We enjoyed our stay in the Zanzibar room. It was spacious, modern, clean, with cute decor. I agree with the other reviews that the common areas were a mess and breakfast disappointing. Some old bread and messy jam jars, a few cherries and yogurt from a container. Has great potential for better. Pascale's (the owner) wine bar and restaurant in town was much better, we had lunch there.

Room Tip: We liked the Zanzibar, didn't see others

We had two nights here in a lovely converted barn with open shower and bath. The room was beautifully renovated and very comfortable. It was mid October so still quite warm; I'm not sure I would stay here in winter as the radiator would not heat such a large room. We had a really nice evening meal with other guests; I particularly enjoyed the organic wine, but beware there is nowhere to eat on a Sunday night. The village of Sanzier is off the beaten track, very quiet and surrounded by vineyards. It is ideally placed as a base for visiting the surrounding area.

We stayed a couple of nights at this bed and breakfast. The location is good, in a small village close to many Loire castles. The property is a renovated farm with barns converted to rooms, which are spacious and well furnished. The proprietors are very friendly and hospitable.

So great potential but what was disappointing was the lack of upkeep, tidiness (of the common areas - rooms were spotless) and the breakfast. If you are so inclined you can see some hippie-charme but for me a lot of the common areas needed work, especially the kitchen / open dining area. The breakfast was disappointing, some bread, a range of open jam pots from days before, some cheese left over from prior evenings. No fresh fruit, croissants, eggs, etc. We also signed up for dinner (table d'hôte) one night - this is a common dinner with other guests and the proprietors. The dinner was OK with OK food and wine.

Not sure if I would stay again.

The room we stayed in was lovely and if you're just staying without eating I heartily recommend however the food and wine on both days was extremely disappointing , bland , overcooked, lacking in flavour at €35 each not good. I got the impression they were fed up with running the place. The wine was very disappointing it was low sulphite/ organic but very poor quality see my review of "Le Bon gout du Perigord" to see someone who gets it right.
The village is quite dull so it's a problem as there's no other restaurant for a few miles

Thank you for a very enjoyable and comfortable stay. The room was comfortable, well decorated and appointed and set in buildings with just the right balance of restoration and original features.
We had dinner with Pascale and Olivier (and the friendly cats and dog) and it was very relaxed occasion. The food was delicious and the conversation (despite our halting French) interesting and informative.

Pascale and Olivier are the most welcoming of hosts and offer true hospitality to their guests. They have clearly thought about what makes a hotel good - comfortable bed, modern bathrooms and fantastic food and wine! We visited for a wedding in the local area but it would also be perfect to explore the surrounding region. We would definitely recommend it!

We had a lovely overnight stay at La Pinsonniere recently and would heartedly recommend it to others looking for a charming B&B in the area. Our room was gorgeous, beautfully decorated with a well designed modern bathroom and a small children's room up in the eves which our 4 year old thought was magical. The host, Pascale, was very welcoming and accomodating and was charming enough to tolerate my poor french, although her english is really excellent. Breakfast was very rustic. The place is beautiful and peaceful and feels very rural.
