“Our little place in Paradise”
Reviewed 15 July 2015 for a stay in July 2015

We have just returned from our second visit within 12 months & we can't wait to be back there again. It is the most idyllic, peaceful place in the middle of the beautiful French countryside. The cottage is tastefully furnished with lovely homely touches, there is a substantial welcome pack provided on arrival & the quality of the linen, towels etc is fabulous.
The pool & all the other facilities are well maintained & the owners certainly go `the extra mile' to ensure that your holiday is a wonderful relaxing experience. Thank you once again for contributing to making our holiday an extremely happy one.

“Perfection in a Picture Postcard Location”
Reviewed 12 August 2013 for a stay in August 2013

I have just returned from the most marvelous relaxing holiday at Lavender Cottage. It is set in a beautiful location surrounded by golden sunflowers on the edge of a tiny hamlet. Being for adults only it is perfect quality relaxation in a tastefully decorated cottage. Having holidayed in France on and off for fifteen years I have to say the accommodation, unobtrusive yet friendly hosts Teresa and Allan and location have made this one of our best holidays ever.
Set beside a beautifully kept swimming pool and well kept gardens with a top of the range Jacuzzi for extra relaxation this is very near perfection and the perfect tonic for anyone who requires a relax in luxury.

“What a wonderful place!!!”
Reviewed 4 July 2012 for a stay in June 2012

We have just returned from a week at Lavender cottage. What a wonderful place, I could not praise it enough. The location and cottages are beautiful, the owners gave us a sneak preview of Hollyhock as well, and this was just a stunning.

The Gites (converted barns I presumed) had everything you could possibly require. We wanted for nothing, from the comfy sun loungers, lovely pool, hammock and hot tub to the very well equipped kitchen with a wonderful welcome pack on our arrival, which was far more than we expected. There is a really nice secluded area outside Lavender cottage, we spent many a evening relaxing outside with a BBQ and the wonderful scented honeysuckle that seemed to fill the air every evening.

Should the weather take a turn for the worse, there are ample TV channels, DVDs and books to keep you entertained, or if you fancy a bike ride to the local(ish) shops then there are a number of them available to jump on.

If I had one criticism it would be the claim of WiFi. There is indeed wifi there but you have to stand outside the owners kitchen to obtain a signal. Not a huge issue, I just presumed it would be usable from the cottage to check the weather, plan activities etc from the comfort of the cottage. On a positive note, Allan the owner did mention he was looking to improve the situation soon.

Nothing was too much trouble for the owners, we asked in passing about some beaches one evening and come the morning there was an A4 piece of papet on the table outside detailing the best beaches to possibly try in the la Rochelle area, much appreciated.

Hopefully we will be returning next year for another very relaxing weeks holiday, thanks for a great stay. I would graldly recommend this to friends and family.

“amazing cottage, truly relaxing”

we stayed in Hollyhock cottage which is a lovely old building that has been sympathetically renovated by the owners. the cottages are in a lovely secluded farmyard with pool, hot tub, hammock and chickens. the cottage was beautifully furnished and decorated with lovely homely touches, it felt like home from the minute we walked in. the kitchen was well equipped and came complete with a food and wine starter pack, which was very much appreciated. the lounge was spacious, with comfortable sofa's and lovely furniture, TV and DVD. The owners Teresa and Alan have a wide selection of books and DVD's that can be borrowed as well. the bedroom was stunning on a mezzanine so light and airy. the cottage is kept cool on a hot summers day by the thick walls. the cottage has a sheltered table, chairs and barbeque as well as an area outside for sitting in the sun. The pool is well equipped with seating, loungers and lilo's. all around are well kept gardens with lots of lavender to scent the air. the hot tub was perfect and the sound of the chickens pecking around was so relaxing.

Teresa and allan were very welcoming, helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The cottages are a credit to them and are the nicest we have stayed in so far. I have not stopped raving about how wonderful it all was since I returned to work.

“Most Idylic Holiday Ever!!”
Reviewed 18 October 2009 for a stay in June 2009

My wife and I came here after the wedding just to relax and that is just what we did! There is not only sleeping to relax yourself, but the added comfort of a pool, spa pool and hot tub as well as a hammock, we didn't want to move!

When we arrived, we were greeted by Teresa and Allan who gave us a few hints and tips about what we could do in the area as well as a welcome pack with lots of leaflets detailing things available to do.
Also in the welcome pack was some food and wine to get us started for the trip away.

Teresa and Allan left us to the holiday but if we wanted any info or help nothing was too much trouble.
We stayed in Lavender this year (first time) and it was fantastic! You get all the amenities that you could require and then more with the inclusion of fully equipped kitchen, TV and DVD player (with a huge library available!!) as well as a CD player. We couldn't think of anything else we needed. Lavender has its own patio area by the pool and the hot tub was only a small towel throw away!!

We did ask Teresa and Allan if we could see Hollyhock, which was no problem as there wasn't somebody due till Saturday, and this place looked amazing as well and we plan on booking here with our friends for next year.

If you are feeling that little bit energetic then you can borrow one of the many bikes available and head into the nearby villages for some needed supplies. Also there is a badminton net, table tennis and darts available.

See you next year Teresa and Allan, thanks for this year!

“Magical Home from Home in idyllic Location”

How can I express in this review about our holiday, without writing reams and reams. What a beautiful, quiet, peaceful place. The drive up the little lane does not prepare you for the sight you see when you arrive. The first thing you see is the open barn which provides shelter for your cars and keeps them cool. Then you go round into a beautiful courtyard. At the back of the open barn there are a number of different bikes that the owners have provided for you to ride round the beautiful tranquil area. Some of my family used the bikes and said it was brilliant riding round the lanes next to the sunflower fields. Then there are the three exceptional cottages. We had the benefit of all three cottages as there were 7 of us in the family.
All 3 cottages were extremely well equipped, very very clean, all with an excellent "Starter Pack". Furniture and fittings were a very high standard. In the brochure it states "Each cottage is individually refurbished to a high standard with all the necessary requirements for a home from home experience". How right that statement is.
Each cottage had everything we could think of, the thought that had gone into equipping them was exceptional. Each cottage had it's own little covered area to enjoy your breakfast or evening meal outside. There was no television in each cottage which didn't bother us at all but there was a DVD player and music system. There was a huge DVD/CD library provided and loads of books. Everything had been thought of.
Then there was the pool, it is a solar heated pool with spa pool. It was superb. Plenty of sun beds, tables and umbrellas provided.
One day we sat out from 10.00am round the pool, sunbathing, swimming, sunbathing, swimming until tea time. There is a brilliant hammock that my husband particularly liked, he said it was so relaxing. The next day we drove round the beautiful area with it's fields full of sunflowers and corn. It was 5 minutes drive to the nearest shops, 10 minutes drive to the nearest town Chef Boutonne with it's supermarkets, pharmacies and restaurants. Even driving round the area was peaceful and tranquil, hardly any cars on the roads. After teatime we played Table Tennis or darts that was provided on a grassed area. There was a large garden for strolling around and even that had a badminton court to use.
There was a brilliant hot tub to use, that was fantastic.
Teresa and Allan even told us to help ourselves to tomatoes, potatoes, onions or courgettes from their vegetable patch for our evening meal. They were so generous.
The whole atmosphere was one of peace and tranquillity and we didn't really want to go out for the day, we just wanted to stay there. Around 11pm we all sat on chairs looking up into the night sky watching the shooting stars, seeing the Milky Way, the Plough in the clear night sky. It was magical.
Nothing was too much trouble for Teresa and Allan, even down to providing a small set of wire cutters when part of my niece's metal brace came away and had to be cut off.
They even provide a folding table and chairs, picnic basket and cool bag for daily hire to go to the beach or explore the romantic countryside! Also even provide afternoon tea with local bakery products for a very reasonable price.
I could go on and on but I would eventually run out of space we all fell in Love with Serendipity and some of us have even booked to go back next year.
We would all like to say a BIG Thank You to Teresa and Allan, the Perfect Hosts with a property in an outstanding location and with beautiful cottages.
