My wife and I stayed at Badgers Mount for the first time last weekend. The recently refurbished room was excellent, The breakfast room was very nice as was the food that was served. The only gripe we could mange was that the shower doors were a bit rickety. The outstanding feature of our stay was the attitude of all the staff for whom nothing was too much trouble.

We ate here as a family of 7 recently and had a lovely evening! We live relatively near by and there are only a few really decent places to eat if you don't want a curry. One such establishment has recently closed (34 Windsor street) and this place is certainly its equal, which is no mean feat as 34 was mentioned in the Michelin guide for several years consecutively. The staff were charming and attentive and the food was sublime! My father has Coeliac disease but this was no problem for the kitchen and gluten free alternatives were given throughout the meal! I had aranchini ball starter which was delicious and followed that up with a stunning ribeye steak cooked to perfection. The cheeseboard to finish was also spectacular! (share it between two or three people) I had a taste of about 4 puddings including the cheesecake and bread and butter pud! All of which were top notch! We love this place and will be back soon! We have Christmas lunch sorted this year but my wife is already planning on booking for 2018 if they do it. Restaurant lovers give this place a go, you will not be dissapointed!

About a month ago we booked a two night stay to break our journey South, also to attend a historic race meeting at nearby Mallory Park. The hotel is pleasantly situated towards the edge of the village, in its own grounds with an outdoor swimming pool.

We were warmly greeted by Sharon, who looked after us well throughout our stay. We had a pleasant ground floor room (No 9), which had a large bathroom with bath and flexible shower. There was no heating on in the room, despite the weather being unseasonably cool, heating probably having been switched off for the summer. For the same reason, we saw no-one using the outdoor pool during our stay ! Our room lacked chairs, but it was possible to watch TV from the bed. There was some traffic noise, as our room faced the road, but it was not too busy. You need to be careful if venturing out onto the road, as locals appear to blatantly ignore the 40mph speed limit !

The hotel has ample free parking, and is obviously good for wedding parties etc. On the Saturday night we did experience a lot of noise until quite late from the adjacent bar, a party obviously having been taking place. We had to smile at the notice stating that 'Any vomit in the room will incur a sick charge of 150 pounds' !!

There is a large modern restaurant serving excellent evening meals. We ate there each night, our only gripes being that other tables who arrived after us were served first; also two young waitresses were inappropriately dressed, with skirts so short that, from behind, little was left to the imagination !

Breakfasts were OK, hot food being cooked to order, although my partner's scrambled eggs were runny and undercooked.

All in all, we would recommend Badgers Mount for a short stay, and we would be happy to use it again when passing through the area.

We weren't disappointed with Badger's Mount! As many have written on reviews before, it is a real gem, and great value for money. Not necessarily luxurious, or with brand new facilities but it's a really quiet and friendly place to be. We had our youngest child with us, 7 months at the time, and the Badgers Mount staff were more than willing to help us out with the cot, highchair, space for his buggy in the restaurant, etc.
We had a downstairs deluxe room, with French doors that open out onto the pool area. It was sunny and quiet, and room was clean and spacious, with everything we needed. We enjoyed dinner very much and breakfast too the next day.
For what you pay, this is amazing value compared to bigger, chain hotels, and would make an excellent stop-over hotel for those using the m1, as well as a retreat for those staying longer!

Stayed for one night as a stopover to get some sleep - that didn't happen as kids in the hotel where running riot til the early hours and doors where banging. Sunlight flooded into the room in the early hours as no black out blinds. Mentioned this to the owner who basically implied we were lying about the noise as his night porter denyed it (we had 3 rooms & nobody slept) tiny discount for the lack of black out blinds but then he invented an extra charge to recoup the difference - said we had extra kids in rooms but we had listed everybody, we just ended up in different rooms 2 kids 1 adult one room (which had 3 beds), 1 adult & kid in another (beds for 4) and one adult in double room - how was this overbooked! Terrible customer service - the owner was very rude and bordering on aggressive. We were so tired, the driver ended up sleeping in a public car park the following day before driving home. Didn't eat at the hotel as great 2 for 1 pub not far away so can't comment on the food. The pool was lively & warm but unsupervised and open late - people still in til midnight (beware if your room opens to the pool as people sit outside your window drinking). On the positive note, the hotel was lovely and clean and the staff pleasant and attentive (just avoid the owner) some of the rooms have bathrooms in the eaves which is fine if you are smaller than 5 ft 6 otherwise, standing up is a little difficult and the baths were smaller than normal.
