“A wonderful place to stay”
Reviewed July 23, 2013 for a stay in June 2013

We stayed at Country House Case Catalano for 4 days in June with our two boys (8 and 10 years old). It was a lovely place to stay -- we rented Gufo Reale. Very clean and meticulously renovated. After being on the road for a while, it was nice to get to a quiet place where you were in the middle of the mountains and really could enjoy nature at its best. At the same time, you are within minutes of nice little hill-town villages where you can enjoy a good meal and do all the shopping you need. Ida and Carmine are very warm and generous hosts and were very attentive as soon as we had any questions or needed anything. Even though they don't live at the property, they were there a lot so we felt like we had access to any help we needed. Highlights for us included a guided hike with Carmine in the national park, and our boys also really liked picking fresh cherries and vegetables in the garden. Definitely a great place to stay if you are going to Abruzzo.

“By far the best of the agroturismi!”

We just had the chance to spend 3 days in this amazing agroturismo, it was by far one of the most relaxing weekends of my life spent at a majestic place to say the least.
Ida and Carmine are very genuinely loving people and the place is a representation of who they are... From the Abruzzo linen and bedding, the cooking utensils, to the whole renovation work, every detail was very well thought of.
Abruzzo does not get a lot of air time compared to the rest of the regions but it is one of Italy's most pristine regions with the beach and skiing stations 1 hour away from each other and greenery ( parco di Abruzzo and parco Della majella).
If you are looking for a place to spend a special time... Look no further.

“Meticulous attention to every detail!”

A return trip to Case Catalano could not have been better! Ida and Carmine are the most lovely and elegant hosts, so warm, friendly and down to earth. The cottages are beautiful! Every detail has been attended to meticulously, from the beautiful restoration of the stone, brick and tile to the fine linens and handmade curtains. Nice big bathrooms too! It is a 30 min drive to Pescara and in the lovely town of Abbateggio where we went to the street market one day and bought some great food to cook and also had the famous Abruzzo pork sandwich from the "Pork Man". I love Case Catalano and can't wait to go back, it is just relaxing, beautiful and refreshing. (the beds are also top notch)

“A Perfect Getaway”
Reviewed October 18, 2010 for a stay in October 2010

My husband and I were amazed at this quaint mountain getaway. Since we reside in Arizona we were unsure of what to expect and it far exceeded our expectations. The winding road led to the excitement of arriving at stone homes in a beautiful setting. We were greeted by the owners Ida and Carmine who added so much to the charm of our stay. They made us feel like we knew them forever and were so accommodating. Upon entering, we found the stone interior unexpectedly modern in decor, and so very charming. Even the ceilings were stone with wooden beams. The living room and bedroom were huge with new furniture and plumbing. This is truly a hidden gem and we can't wait to go back.

“An Eighteenth Century Country Masterpiece”

After driving up a mountain road through trees and meadows, we passed through an iron gate and onto an old country estate built in the 1700s and restored with care and love. The owners, who did the work themselves, modernized the facilities with self-generated electric power and modern plumbing and appliances, while keeping the original structures intact. And they contrasted the ancient stone walls, floors and ceilings with contemporary art and furnishings, mixed with valuable antiques. We thoroughly enjoyed Ida and Carmine's hospitality, warmth and charm. It was the highlight of our Italian vacation.

“THE jewel of Abruzzo”
Reviewed October 2, 2010 for a stay in September 2010

I have stayed at Case Catalano this summer part of a trip to Abruzzo... To start with, Abruzzo as a region has a lot to offer, it is way underrated!
If you are into Italy and would like to get a real sense of what tourism in Italy looked like 25 years ago then you got the right region to discover...
We chose Case Catalano to spend the 3 nights/4 days we had dedicated to Abruzzo!
We got there in the late afternoon... Ida & Carmine met us at the house exit of the main road... We drove about 5 minutes off the road to discover this 200 years charming old Casa renovated by Ida and Carmine over the course of 8 years... The house is on a National Park with lot sof green and trails for nature lovers and hikers/trekkers!
Every detail in the house (from the signs, tiles, linens, furniture...) was taken care of with passion and care...
We toured the region during the day, took walks in the National Park... In summary, we vacated our minds...
Ida & Carmine are very warm people... Real Italians!
They couldn't have been nicer: Checked on us every day, equipped us with maps of the region, recommendations to the best restaurants in town...
Enough said, you HAVE to stay there to know what I am talking about!

“The Best of all Agriturismi!”
Reviewed September 18, 2010 for a stay in September 2010

I have stayed in very nice Agriturismi all around Italy but the Case Catelano is by far the very nicest of all. The location is about 30 K west of Pescara in the beautiful nation park which has some of the loveliest small villages in all of Italy. The guest houses are completely and meticulously restored stone cottages with very up to date bathrooms and simple yet very functional kitchens. The showers rival the finest hotels in Italy and the States! The cottages are set in a circular cluster and all together can sleep 18 people. They are as beautiful as the photos depict and immaculately cared for.
Your hosts Ida and Carmine are absolutely delightful and caring, they extended themselves to assist us with maps sight seeing telling us the little secrets of the region! Even when we resued a puppy from the side of the road Carmine and Ida made arrangement s for us to take her to a vet for shots and a groomer to remove fleas etc. Then insisted on taking us to lunch!
The restorations they did on these beautiful stone dwellings was just phenomenal! They were don so elegantly with an excellent blend of the old and the new. The linens were wonderful, so nice that I bought some from Ida who was gracious enough to get me a new set to bring home to Washington DC, the beds were so comfortable we slept like babies, the sun spakling through the wood shutters to gently wake us after the best nights sleep I believe i had ever had! I loved the sliding glass and steel door to the bathrooms and the sophisticated electrical system. I have stayed in Many lovely agriturismi but his is the one I will continue to return to! It is difficult to explain but I still miss not being there, it is so nice and in such a serene setting and close to so many nice villages and cities. The best mozzarella outside of Naples, beautiful fruits, vegetable, meats and local cuisine that is just amazing! You will love Abruzzi andbe enchanted with Case Catalana. The views are beautiful right from your cottage with the fabulous mountains and sunsets. Don't miss out on making the best vacation plans you have ever made and rejuvenate yourself at Case Catalano.
