We stayed at this guest house as we were getting into Durban fairly late and didn't want to drive all the way to St Lucia the evening we got in but wanted to get part way up. The guest house is only about half an hour from the airport.
We didn't have time to explore the area as we got in around dinnertime and left first thing in the morning. The guest house is a B&B and Mark - the owner - will cook your breakfast to order. For dinner you can do self catering or Mark will make you dinner. We opted to have Mark make us dinner and oh my goodness what a treat! He made ostrich with a reduction sauce that was wonderful and sides of sweet potatoes and vegetables and I can't tell you what he put in them but they were awesome! Dessert was a chocolate delight!
He also has a nice wine selection so you can purchase a bottle from him to drink with your dinner. Mark is going to try out for Master Chef South Africa and we don't doubt he will do well!!
The guest house has a water view - it sits up on a cliff. The rooms are large and have been recently updated. The bed - very comfortable. He also provides coffee and tea in the room along with an honor bar. There is a large deck to sit out on as well as a common area on the first floor with a TV room and outdoor patio.
If you are looking for a safe quiet place to stay near Durban or the Durban airport I would highly recommend this guest house!! And, make sure you have dinner with Mark!
