We went with a dear friend on the off-chance and were very pleasantly surprised. We were made very welcome, we were not hurried and were served very pleasantly. I cannot recall what my wife and our friend had but my lasagna was absolutely delicious. The atmosphere was pleasant and we enjoyed a long chat after the meal and were quite taken with the massive collection of tea pots of all shapes and types. A really lovey evening and meal.

Booked for a birthday meal at short notice. Reviews looked good so thought we’d try it out.

The service from the staff during our meal was excellent. They we’re all very polite, friendly and helpful. Factored heavily in the overall rating.

The venue itself is slightly dated. The atmosphere was quiet for a Saturday. There is a balance depending on your viewpoint however despite having most of the tables full it was close to silent at times. A feeling the conversations on your table could be heard by all. You may like that.

The menu comprised of what I’d describe as traditional pub food. A good but not excessive choice of dishes. All priced reasonably. We had the whitebait and haloumi starters. Both tasty and came in big portions. For mains we had the steak and cheese pie and the mixed grill. Again, both came in a hearty portion. The mixed grill was also mixed in its quality. For example, the steak was excellent and the pork was dry. The portion was so large that you could pick and choose what you ate and still be full.

Five-star service with four-star food at a three-star venue. Would visit again for a bit to eat. Would go elsewhere for a special occasion though.

We sat in the pretty garden, looking at all the beautiful hanging baskets, soaking up the sunshine, drinking cold lager and eating a lovely vegan meal: roasted vegetable wrap, with salad and delicious sweet potato fries. There was also a vegan curry on the menu.
It was very busy, but the staff were all calm, friendly and efficient.
