“Lovely house in beautiful grounds”
Reviewed September 20, 2015 for a stay in September 2015

We all had a wonderful stay at Le Grys farm house. The kids especially loved exploring the upstairs. The dogs loved the garden and great walks on the doorstep.
The house has been beautifully restored, it is true quintessential English farm cottage. Some low beams and doorways so watch your head but this is exactly how these were built. It's beautiful, warm, the owners were so helpful and friendly. It was just lovely.
Thank you so much

“You need to be short & agile on your feet !”
Reviewed April 19, 2015 for a stay in April 2015

We had(my partner & myself ) travelled from New Zealand to have a family holiday. Unfortunately, we arrived an hour earlier than check in time, we drove up & down the lane looking for a sign on the door or gate post to alert us as to the right farmhouse. The second time we drove past we saw a guy, so stopped to ask him if he could direct us to the right house, I said excuse me, he seemed to quicken his step, I shouted louder a few more times, he turned, I asked if he could direct us. He said you're at the right place, I apologized for being early after a 6 hour drive on Good Friday. We were wondering if it would be at all possible to check in early, he said they would need at least another half hour, so we gave them the hour & sat in the car at the end of the road! We had owned & run a very successful 5* bed & breakfast in New Zealand for 9 years, we had many early arrivals, we would never have sent any guest away even if their suite wasn't ready, they would have been warmly welcomed & offered a cup of tea , or at the very least a sit in the garden until their suite was ready!
From the photo's we were so looking forward to our stay. OMG! What a shock, yes it's old, very historic & yes the owners have done a great restoration job, but we don't see how the two flight of stairs can be fit for purpose, they are a hazard. And how can the en-suite attached to the top bedroom be of any use to anyone other than a midget as you have to negotiate a very small space between the slopping roof & the chimney breast, & the ground floor shower room, the basin wasn't even big enough to get a flannel in let alone for a guy to have a shave & I would like to guess when it was last cleaned!
For the price we paid we expected some sort luxury, if not, at least a bit of comfort! The beds, well the twin beds we used on the first floor, the springs were totally shot, like sleeping on a bag of rocks, the bedding was adequate, however expected much better quality. All the rooms had different drapes as if from charity shops!
I could go on but I have more important things to do. ...

I am so sorry that I didn't see you when you arrived, had I done so, I would have recommended an excellent coffee shop in a nearby village where you could relax properly, as at that time there were four people preparing the house in readiness for a 3pm arrival time. We do try to accommodate requests from guests who wish to arrive early or leave late, and on our website we ask that guests contact us prior to the start of their holiday to discuss this.

Thank you for your comment about the work that we have undertaken in restoring this lovely old farmhouse. As you will appreciate, as the cottage is Listed, we are unable to change ceiling heights or stairs. We are, however, very clear about accessibility on our website.

Each room has a different colour scheme and curtains to match it. These are made by a reputable local curtain maker. Please note that we would have sent someone around immediately to clean the shower room basin, had you let us know that you were unhappy with it. We have a variety of mattresses to suit the various requirements of our guests. Most of the mattresses in the house were replaced very recently. We will, of course, act upon your comments and check the mattresses we didn't replace recently and replace them as necessary.

Thank you for taking the time to write your review.

“Fantastic choice for Christmas (and beyond!)”
Reviewed March 19, 2015 for a stay in December 2014

We were very pleased to have found this property to rent over the Christmas period as it meant our large family could be together, and we hired both the farmhouse and the adjacent cottage.

The picturesque farmhouse is kitted out with all mod cons and so allowed huge meals to be prepared and served efficiently, but without losing its traditional appeal of low beams, rickety stairs and much-appreciated log fires. The small cottage is immaculately modernised on the inside and it was a shame it was too cold to sit in its outdoor space.

The surrounding common was perfect for beautiful crisp walks on a winter's morning. The location allowed us to take day trips to the Broads and also the coast; large supermarkets are within 10 miles, but in fact the Co-ops (and fish and chip shop) in nearby Long Stratton met our needs.

This was a great choice, and the owners were great at communicating and went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable. Thoroughly recommend!!

“Superb”
Reviewed June 24, 2014 for a stay in June 2014

What a gorgeous house full of character and a warm welcome tea coffee and biscuits on arrival. Very quirky old farm house beautifully clean and well equipped and a beautiful location very peaceful with stunning views. Ideal location to visit all the local attractions. Would recommend Norwich for a day out for the shops and the Cathedral. Wroxham Barns a superb day out and so is the Norfolk broads boat trip. So many places to visit with not enough time will definitely be booking again for next year mum and i loved it.
Owners are lovely and very helpful and friendly would highly recommend
