Everything is so delightful and beautiful in this hotel: views, location, employees, beds, just all. I have not enough words to describe the ultimate pleasure of our stay in Sole e Monte. The landscape around the village is stunning: don't forget to visit heritage trail.

Travelling around Corsica by car. Stayed for a night.
The hotel exceeded my expectations. Even though it's quite old it's well maintained, clean and very charming. The hotel is run by the owner and his family- charming, friendly and service minded.
The hotel is situated high in the mountains above Ajaccio, and the view is fantastic. The terrace in front of the hotel is worth the entire drive. Have a drink and enjoy the view, the kitchen is great and very reasonable.
The rooms are basic but it's cool and quiet at night and you will sleep like a baby.
Like I said, this place exceeds expectations.

Room tip: Best rooms face the valley

What a great team running this hotel. Corsica has plenty of people who dont seem to enjoy being in a service industry, but not here. The staff are so warm and welcoming, the view is incredible, and the restaurant is great. There are downsides though! The room walls are very thin, and you can hear everything from the neighbouring rooms. The decor is really pretty horrible, but everything is clean. There are no shops anywhere nearby. There are some good walks in the area, one to the moulin has recently been upgraded/established and is excellent and informative. It is steep though, be warned, also the local townspeople are friendly. Really this place is a bargain, with the positives far outweighing the negatives, and we will certainly go back if we visit Corsica again.

Room tip: get a balcony room

We got a suspiciously good deal online for a room in this hotel. As we were just passing by the area and needed to stay for one night only, we figured we'll take our chances. What we got was the best hotel experience of our entire 2-week trip.

Although he wasn't making that much money out of us, the patron was really hospitable and helpful. We had booked a double room, but we were given a room which actually had a double room inside it (and a total of 5 beds) - just because the patron thought it had the best views he had to offer. For sure, the decor was past its prime, but rooms were really clean and tidy. To top it off, dinner at the restaurant was really excellent value for money (good, classy food and big portions). In the morning, the patron took time to give us pointers on places to see along our planned route (which proved to be good!).

Highly recommended, to say the least!

What a great place. It is way up almost at the very end of the mountain road just when you think it cannot go any further with a fantastic view down the valley right to the sea. We were greeted by the very pleasant and hard working young patron.
The room (or ours anyway) had a fridge and microwave which we hadn't realised so you could do some of your own catering, though I would doubt you would want to as the restaurant food was fabulous, very classy and huge portions. Our only disappointment was with the deserts whose soggy pastry did not match the wonderfully crisp pastry of the vegetable tart. Also there is nowhere to buy any food- we did spy a mobile van but it was all shut up when we got to it.
The room was very clean and although as has been noted the decor is a bit tired, who wants to go on holiday in the mountains just to enjoy a glitzy new bathroom?
We went on a great walk from the walks sign at col st Pierre, up behind the fountain and on around the mountains until we came in sight of the bay at Ajaccio, though it turned out that this wasn't the official walk at all as the notices and guiding of the walks is so poor!

Room tip: You must have a room with balcony and view!
