“Romantic Paris”
Reviewed April 27, 2016 for a stay in April 2016

After staying four other times on a boat, our visit on the Devolu was amazing. I was hesitant that it may be a little too far away from central Paris, but the easy access to the tram/metro/train service removed any hesitancy.
Our only complaint was we had to leave. It was a wonderful place to visit and felt like home the moment we stepped on board. Being able to self cater, with restaurants near by if we chose to eat out. Instructions were clear and additional emails from owner so helpful.
This is the only place we will stay when we visit Paris in the future.
Every moment was perfect. Look no further the Devolu is a wonderful delight.

“Idyllic way to experience Paris...”
Reviewed December 12, 2013 for a stay in July 2013

We were looking for something a bit different and with space to accommodate five. Devolu was as lovely as it looks in the photos. Paris was really hot and busy when we visited in July, but we could escape back to Devolu from enjoying the hustle and bustle. It was delicious to sit on the deck and enjoy a drink or meal with the gentle breeze off the water. This was very convenient for public transport links and our teenagers (17, 18, 19) were happy to go exploring on their own. An added bonus for them were a series of free open air concerts held in central Paris. The owner thoughtfully left the details for us when we told him the ages of the guests. The boat was a real home from home - the duck hatching her ducklings under the rosemary bush was an extra treat for us to see.

“Great experience on a beautiful houseboat”
Reviewed September 27, 2012 for a stay in July 2012

We stayed on Devolu for 12 days this summer with 2 adults and 4 kids ages 7, 11, 13, and 16. We loved the space - everyone had plenty of room. The super extensive DVD collection was a major bonus for our kids. We cooked dinner on the boat almost every night. The large grocery store (Auchun) was easy to get to on the Tram and had everything we needed. Although it was a bit difficult to find at first or to give directions to a taxi driver (only used a taxi one time) it was easy to get into Paris using the tram and subway system. Rupert was very easy to work with and quick to answer questions. We never felt uncomfortable in the neighborhood, even walking from the tram at night. It took a little longer than I had anticipated getting to certain areas of Paris, just given that we would have to take the Tram, and then sometimes two subway lines. It was easy to figure out, I would have just liked to be a little closer. That being said, I would definitely recommend the boat to other visitors. We love telling people we stayed on a houseboat on the Seine. Totally unique experience!!

“Definitely recommend this place, great stay!”
Reviewed August 31, 2012 for a stay in August 2012

We just got back from our trip to Paris and with 2 young children (5 and 2.5) we wanted a place with a kitchen. Devolu was comparable in price to a nice hotel with a kitchen but much more fun and neat. How cool t o stay on a boat in Paris!
We loved the decor and space. We ate breakfast and lunch everyday on the terrace to watch the boats and ducks go by and we also utilized the great kitchen.
The kids loved the chalkboard wall as well as the selection of DVDs and SkyTV!
We drove in and the free parking was another big benefit and it was a quick drive into the city center. We did take the train one day for fun and this proved to be a quick walk and an easy task from the boat with Rupert's great instructions he provided.
The boat is just nice and comfy with every amenity possible and Rupert is great at communicating as well. I would definitely recommend Devolu to anyone.

“Charming, spacious and comfortable accomodation in quiet yet accessible location for Central Paris”
Reviewed August 27, 2012 for a stay in August 2012

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay on board Devolu which was a welcome oasis of quiet and calm after a full day's sightseeing in central Paris. The accomodation is generous and well equipped with the Apple/satellite TV particularly being a hit with our teenage children (nothing like practising one's French there then!). Travel to central Paris was easy by tram/train taking at most 30 minutes with a variety of routes available depending on which sight was being sought. We were able to leave our car safely by the boat all week (other than to travel the 6 miles to visit Versailles) and the boat mooring itself is straightforward to find off the Periphique du Sud with excellent directions (and advice generally) given by the owner. There is also a large shopping centre one mile up the road with ample free parking. Would we stay there again - an absolute yes from all 4 of us !

“Perfect base to visit Paris with young teenagers”
Reviewed August 26, 2012 for a stay in August 2012

We would recommend Devolu as excellent accommodation in Paris to anyone, particularly with children. Our grandchildren, aged 13 and 11, loved their cabins and the whole idea of living on a boat. It was so much nicer than a stuffy apartment in a hot street in Paris!

The boat was even more stylish, spacious and comfortable than the photos had implied! It was a perfect base and the tram was a brilliant way to get about, quick, frequent and efficient, with a multitude of ways of allowing us to access the centre of Paris. We really used our Paris Visite tickets, and covered most of the Metro and RER network as well as the superb T2, which stopped just 200m away.

The first thing we did, after completing our “big shop” at Auchan, one stop away on the tram, was open a bottle of champagne and sit on the back deck with nibbles enjoying the tranquillity of being away from the noisy Parisian streets. We then popped some onions and steaks on the Plancha and ate them with salad and crusty bread. Perfect!

It was all so comfortable and the copious instructions covered everything we might need to know and plenty we did not need to know as well, thank goodness. The whole boat behaved impeccably during our stay and the kitchen was really well equipped. It was a great few days!

Liked best: The peace and beauty of being on the river, away from the noise of central Paris
Liked least: The slightly run down neighbourhood, which seems to be undergoing extensive refurbishment, so should improve. A baker nearer would have been nicer.
