The staff were fine, in a kind of 'I'm-doing-my-best.with-what-there-is' sort of way. I had a huge room (which was fine) but it was really gloomy, and the furniture looked as if it had been left behind in the 1960s. It was cold too - really difficult to heat, with incomprehensible old heaters on the walls. Everything needs replacing really, which would mean a major investment, and they probably haven't got the resources. The bar area is kind of hidden and neglected, and the breakfast I thought was poor (despite the comments here). In Italy, for heaven's sake, you at least expect a good cup of coffee!
In short, it's not a disaster, and the station is really close. But it's a bit depressing. There are other hotels of a similar price that are much better.More
