The hotel is situated above Caserta and could be tricky to find. Having arrived you will be greeted by helpful staff and good facilities, although there are a few end of season defects which need attention. The restaurant is good and offers a comprehensive menu, although you could blow the budget if you stuff yourself!

For the relatively modest price, this hotel turned out to be a hidden gem, located in the beautiful hills north of Caserta just a short walk from the medieval village of Casertavecchia, perfect for evening strolls and late Italian dinners. The hotel was tidy and the staff ever so friendly. The room was simple in a typical Italian way and the view over garden and valley lovely. Most enjoyable with a swim in the pool after warm days in Caserta, the surrounding villages or even Naples, which is within reach for those only wanting to scrap it's surface over the day. My needing to avoid gluten posed no problem what so ever, nor to have our breakfast served in the garden the day of reluctant departure.

We stayed here for 1 night and were welcomed like kings. The owner is very friendly and does everything to make you feel welcome. We had our dinner in the restaufang and ate for only 20 euro a whole menu, incl. Wine and water. Even my son of 20 who is a big eater couldn't eat it all :-)
when we left they gave us small bottles of wat and an extra bottle of wine. The rooms are a bit out of date, but we should go there again!

wow. you cannot get much better than this: makes you want to (just almost) leave home. forever. staff was very kind, helpful and knowledgeable, but there is something beyond these niceties in these 'interesting' times that put you fully at ease, for traveling, even for pleasure, is work: they make it easy to be there with them in loveley, hilltop 'caserta vecchia'.

Room Tip: none come to mind.

This was a massive disappointment. Rooms were worse than a Hotel 6- very basic, with many flies in the room. We did not get an air conditioning remote. Dogs were barking all night long, not to mention screaming children playing on a playground immediately below the room at midnight. Breakfast consisted of rotten fruit, stale bread and a few yogurts, generic corn flakes, diluted juice. The pool was FREEZING cold even in early September. You could not swim comfortably. We had a problem with the lock breaking on one of the rooms. The surly staff did not apologize, but told us to stay in the lobby and listen to the really bad singer who was croning Neopolitan folk melodies. We were told that there were frequent buses to the Palace, but buses did not show up, so we were ripped off with the taxi going into town, but we had no choice as we waited over 1 1'2 hours for a bus. The village of Casertavecchia is charming and worth the visit, but this hotel is awful. I would recommend visiting Caserta as a day trip from Rome or Napoli, but NOT to stay overnight. The Palace is a hidden gem- World Hertitage site with very few tourists, mostly Italians. This is a must see. Rent the bikes and pedal through the park.....incredible. In short, avoid this hotel.

Room Tip: Do not stay here!!
