What a nice find! This was recommended by Alessandro (Hotel Borgo del Mare, post coming). About a 5-7 minute walk from the hotel.
When you first walk up, it does look a little overgrown, once you get past that, you realize what a gem this place is. We initially went there at 5pm, not realizing they didn't open for dinner until 7:30. We returned at 7:20 (it was all we could do to stay awake after traveling from the afternoon of the day before), Carlo, a nice gentleman, seated us and told us it would be just a few minutes. Prior to going in, we stopped to watch the sunset, we asked if they could raise the shade so we could watch the view. He apologized and said he couldn't. Five minutes later, three gentlemen rolled up the shades for us!
Carlo was so kind in everything he did for us, even when there was a language barrier for both of us. This meant the world to us since from the time we hit Europe, the people were very rude and nasty.
If you spend the night in Civitavecchia for a cruise definitely give them a try, you won't be disappointed.
