We have just returned from our third stay at the Virginia. This is a gem of a hotel, family-run and perfectly situated in a quiet semi-residential area just a few minutes walk from the main lakeside promenade in Garda, the shops and restaurants, and the boat jetty for trips around the lake - although beware if you have walking difficulties as the return walk from the lake is uphill. The hotel is spotlessly clean and the rooms are comfortable, with decent sized bathrooms and air conditioning. Breakfast is buffet style and is good, and if you want to be out early they will arrange for an early breakfast to be available. The two sisters who run the hotel speak good English and are very helpful and friendly. Highly recommended and we will be back!

Room tip: Rooms on the back are away from the road and so are quieter.

We stayed in the Hotel Virginia rated as a 3 - 4 star hotel on Thomson lakes and mountains website and when we got to the hotel is was a 2 star. Thomsons reply to this was that it was rated by tourists staying in it and it was 3T although it clearly states 3 star on their site. We were so disappointed at this. The first time we stayed the air conditioning nearly drove us deaf as it was so loud. The hotel is clean and the breakfast is very basic but the family who run it are nice. No hot food just cheese, ham etc and tinned fruit. The safe in the room is built into the wall probably when it was built and holds nothing more than passports, anything else has to be folded to fit in. We paid three star prices for a two star bed and breakfast.

We stayed here in June 2017 for two nights as part of a trip driving through Italy.
This hotel was a perfect base for exploring Garda. We were travelling by car so were pleased to find that there was a garage where we could leave the hire car. The hotel is about a 5 to 10 minute walk from the waterfront of Garda which was perfect; close enough to walk but away from any noise.
The room was spotlessly clean and we even had a view of the lake which was a lovely surprise! The was plenty of room in our room and the shower worked well. Wifi was provided.
The ladies who ran the hotel were extremely helpful and polite. Highly recommended.

This is a small family run hotel which appears popular with a visitors from a variety of countries. It is a short walk out of the town and up a slight incline; however this means it is quiet. The incline may make it difficult for people who are infirm but otherwise is a good location. The rooms were very clean and the 'all you can eat' continental type breakfast excellent. The two reasons I didn't give this 5 stars are that (1)We were there during a very warm spell and it would have benefitted from a pool (even a small one) and (2) it has a bar but the one time we wished to use it there was no-one on duty. Nevertheless we enjoyed our stay and would happily revisit.
