We have just returned home from our 5th trip to Tuscany and what we now consider our private Italian home. On our first visit, we stayed for six weeks, we now stay for 3 months, and are always sorry to leave. We chose the agriturismo originally for the location. You can take day trips to so many wonderful locations, (Siena, Florence, Lucca, Pisa, Orvieto, Pitigliano, Rome, and more) and still return to your own bed at night. We continue to return not only for the tranquility of the Maremma, the close proximity to the beach but because the owners are such special people.
The apartments are just the right size for a vacation home, large bedroom and bath, with a cozy sojourno (living, dining, kitchen), and a magnificent covered porch for dining, reading, wine drinking, and watching the sunset. The property has a very large swimming pool, a nice game area for teenagers, a play area for younger children, and lots of room to meander among the olive trees, vineyards, roses, and country roads. There is a large vegetable garden and you are welcome to enjoy the fruits, vegetables, and herbs as they ripen. There is also a washing machine and lots of lines for air drying your laundry. The bed linens are all hand decorated with lace and embroidery, a luxurious touch for a good night's sleep.
The property is just a few kilometers from Roselle, a town with basic necessities, home made pasta shop, fruit and vegetable store, local wine, and even a bar with great gelato. There are also wonderful, educational, Etruscan ruins just up the road. Just down the road is the walled city of Grosseto, a wonderful place for dining, strolling and enjoying the shopping. And of course you are only 30 minutes to the beach. You will need a car to stay here, but you will find this a wonderful place to stay as you enjoy Tuscany. And if you want to do nothing more than relax each day and swim in the pool, you are also in the perfect spot. We very much enjoy meeting all the people who visit from other parts of Italy, the Netherlands, Germany and the UK. August is always the busiest month and usually is fully booked by mid January, so don't put off making your reservation. We are already planning are 2016 return.
