We were warmly welcomed and informera about the dishes we chose (from the local specialities section of the menu). The restaurant seems to be family run and the atmosphere was nice.

At the bottom of a number of blue slopes and next to the ski school this restaurant is in a great location. So it’s very convenient for families and the staff are very friendly. So far so good you think.... 8 of us(2 families) choose to grab lunch here after a morning of skiing. Our paninis and hot drinks arrived after a bit of a wait. But the french fries and hot dogs were nowhere to be seen. We repeatedly asked as our posse of kids was getting hungrier and louder by the minute. 30 minutes later the dogs and fries arrived. Not good! We passed this off as an exception and went again 2 days later only to have the same thing happen again - the hot food was delayed by at least 20mins. Once is an exception, twice in 3 days is the norm. I’d say this place is ok for paninis but anything else will involve a significant delay! What a pity!!

There are 2 carpe diems: the day time version is simple skiing food and drinks at the slope by the Central Ski School. A little bit pricey but the position is without parallel and the welcome is friendly.
In the evening the restaurant becomes a more sophisticated venue serving local cuisine. All presided over by the magnificent Sophia. We would recommend the risotto made with red wine and the local cheeses and meats, some of which are made by Sophia's family from their own animals. Our meal was finished by a 'grappa' flavoured with plants from the mountain and picked by Sophia.
It is very easy to get basic Italian food in Livigno; it is usually good, But you can get lasagne all over the world. Eating a cheese made in the valley from cattle raised there is different experience and that is what makes carpe diem such a pleasure.

Adorable place at the foot of the slopes. The staff are so kind, we felt right at home and returned many times there. The food is nice, the service is great, I highly recommend this place to everyone!

Huge choice on the card of a lot of menus and as proven by the locals who flock here to sit around a nice dish; - carpe diem, and let it be, yes be surprised and enjoy the fabulous location, sensational wine list and great ambiance.
