Good location, nice host/owner. Full stop.
Old, falling apart building, paper thin walls makes it impossible to sleep and relax. Small and dark room. Bad coffee and breakfast. Big garden but completely not taken care of. No internet access when it was raining. This is OK for a hostel or a camping but not a two star hotel. Stay away if possible. Ratings that you see on this or other sites are completely overrated.

I have already answered to your comments on Booking.com.
No Internet access in a storm (not just raining) because we disconnected it as with another storm the modem blew up (and it was a new modem).
Obviousely you didn't like the hotel, but I think that if you read other comments and my description I always explain things as they are . What I don't understand is that you didn't ask to leave (but it was high season and perhaps you didn't find another place) and why did you decide to have every morning "bad" coffee and breakfast in the hotel... when we have so many bars very near us.
However you did like the location and us so there was something good!
Thank you for taking the time to write a comment Donata & Graham

We flew to Tuscany for a wedding in Firenze but came a few days early so we could head out to the sea.. Yes, Tuscany has amazing beaches and Hotel Caprice is on one. Located about an hour outside Firenze, Hotel Caprice is a delicious little escape from the craziness you leave in the States!
Family owned and operated for over 30 years, Graham & Donata are always lovely & welcoming which is what keeps me coming back!
If you're looking for fancy, pampered, 5 star, gourmet meal plan, go someplace else.. Dont show up then act like a child when it doesn't have what you decided it should have. ( we witnessed some rudeness) Its a beautiful comfortable little hotel a block off the beach, close to amazing restaurants and the quaint little downtown area.
They have a delicious Italian breakfast every morning, the espresso machine is always ready to knock out another delicious cup, and they know just about everything about the area and surrounding areas so you'll never be at a lack of something to do, if you want to, if not, the patio is covered with big shade trees and sitting out there, reading is a great way to unwind and just relax... We look forward to our next trip and our next visit to Hotel Caprice!

Room Tip: Room 14 or 18 have a lovely view of the sea....

I stumbled on hotel caprice while on the way to another hotel found through the tourist information and me and my boyfriend agree it was a very good find. Besides it being very affordable, its owners are very friendly and helpful, the rooms are comfortable and clean, breakfast was a basic italian breakfast, the beach is a stone's throw away and we enjoyed cold drinks in the shaded peaceful garden...basically no complaints from us.

Thanks Graham and Donata

I found this small hotel by chance on an internet booking portal and I am very happy to say it proved indeed a very nice surprise. The hotel is located at some 100 mt. both from the sandy beach and from village center with rests, shops etc. and offers free parking within premises. Blessed with a huge fresh garden of secular trees and perfumed bushes equipped with picnic areas, the quaint building in optimum maintenance conditions offers some 17 rooms of different types and for different pockets on three floors including family rooms, all very good value for money. Rich continental breakfast is available upon request. Very close to Forte dei Marmi and Viareggio, while Cinque Terre, Lucca, Sarzana and Lunigiana may easily become awayday trips (15-30 min drives). Busy with lots of international clients of all ages, it is run by a very nice couple who patiently and kindly help make your stay memorable with a smile. Great flexibility towards children and pets complete the picture. Worth more than one stay :) Thanks and arrivederci ! <3

Room Tip: All rooms are quiet and sunny. If you have kids or pets you may ask for a room with a balcony or the detached dependence with own entrance in the garden.

I stayed at hotel Caprice from May 15 -23 , 2014 It was one of my most wonderful experiences away from home.
Thank you Graham and Donata , the nice couple who are the owner of the hotel. They really take care of all the guests. They gave us good advices, call the taxi for us, and even drove me to some place after hearing about the high fee I had to pay for the taxi.. where else can you find this kind of hospitality !!
Hotel's location is perfect. There are beautiful garden surrounded us. My room is comfortable and have nice veranda which became my favorite place to read and relax in the sun. We're less than 5 minutes from the blue sea and beautiful beach of Marina Massa. 7 minutes from Piazza di Betti where I can find bus station to go to every where. 9 minutes from Massa town's Information centre.
There are wonderful restaurants around us Graham and Donata also have good connections with them and can recommend places that we can get good food with lots of discount.

I'll definitely come back to this place again if I have a chance to go back to Massa !
