A Very Old hotel, I got the basement room, and it was very cold. They have a big room, with plenty of beds, but the floor were icy. I have to wear a slip, and the corridor light very dark, hope I can get a better hotel. The only positive side, my friend who left her wallet there, got hers back after the front desk help her genuinely

We stayed for 3 nights with very good breakfast, good service and nice clean rooms. Close to the beach, only like a 100m. The only thing we wasn't so happy about was the internet connection. It was laging a lot and was very slow during peak hours.

The Hotel Tirreno was one of the nicest places we've stayed in Europe. We stayed three nights and found the staff to be very accommodating, and they spoke English (which was rare along the coast in the predominately Italian vacation areas).

It's a beautiful Mansion across the street from the sandy beach and for 15 Euros you can rent a spot on the beach at one of the Cabanas and enjoy a day on the beach with an umbrella, chairs and table. It's a very short walk to the city center, where the night-time activities went on until near midnight.

We enjoyed a room with a view of the Sea for a very reasonable rate. They offered a nice breakfast and free wi-fi, along with a refrigerator in the room (huge plus in my book)! They also offered free parking within the limited courtyard area and the surrounding streets.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the sea, and be sure to prowl the city center at night for some of the best seafood, wine and shopping!

Dear Holly,
is a great pleasure to read that our Hotel and its staff have fully
satisfied your expectations. The professionalism of our employees, our
good location and an excellent "value for money", are our strengths. The
spirit we try to convey to our Guests is to make them feel a bit "at
home", welcoming them in a familiar environment, at the center of our
attention.
As you wrote, Tirreno Hotel was an "ancient mansion", renovated a few
years ago, leaving intact the original structure in all its glory. Being
so close to the sea, tothe center of Marina di Massa and the highway,
offers our customers the opportunity to walk around freely, during the
day and night, and get, bycar, places of great cultural and tourist
interest, in a very short time.
We thank you for appreciating our services, we send you warmest
greetings and we will be happy to have you back our welcome guest.

Hotel Tirreno is a really great place to stay, very contemporary. Its in fabulous condition inside and the rooms are in very good condition and spotlessly clean. It has an integrated IT, A/C system that surprised me for such a small hotel...it actually switched off the A/C when I opened the window. The staff are very nice. English is spoken by all staff to varying levels - but all very competent. The breakfast wasn't the greatest but it was fine. The croissant/cake thingies were very nice.
The location is really great - across the road from the beach - there are 2 patches of free-beach either side of the pier. The hotel has discounts with 3 beach clubs - the cheapest costs 17euro and gets you 2 chairs, 1 bed and a parasol for the whole day - no limit on number of persons. The town centre of Marina di Massa is 30 seconds from the hotel...bars, cafes and restaurants are available but is never noisy or rowdy. They are far enough away from the hotel to not impose. The hotel provides free bike rental on a fcfs basis. There is also a really really good Chinese restaurant adjacent to the hotel too - best Chinese I've had in Italy in fact - it actually tastes like proper Chinese food for a change!
Buses leave from the piazza near the hotel and go to Massa town centre every 20 mins (ish - be early - they often are!) There is a really nice castle in Massa - worth a morning's visit. Incidentally, it's almost exclusively inhabited by Italian tourists - some continental Europeans but few and far between.
All in all, a really good place to visit to unplug and a great hotel to stay in while there.

Room Tip: I suppose a sea view would be great - but for us it didn't matter - they were spotlessly clean which was the most important thing.

We recently spent 10 days at the Hotel Tirreno and we had a great time, hotel is spotlessly clean and the staff are amongst the most helpfull we have ever met, even dealing with a hire car incident for us, brilliant.

The hotel is about 50m from a stunning beach with safe swimming and there are loads of nice restaurants nearby to suit everyones taste and pocket.

A great day trip is the the boat trip along the Cinque Terra that leaves daily from the pier, the pier itself is a great source of entertainment every night.

Great breakfast, free wifi and a lovely garden all add to the experience at the hotel.
