We had a super great stay here. The guy who worked in the reception was very friendly and a nice guy. He was very helpful. We felt very welcomed. The rooms were very nice. It was very old but nicely kept. I think the borgo was like 700 years old or something.
The view from the room we stayed in was so beautiful. It was picture perfect. We would definitely stay there if we visit Montepulciano again. Just so you know, the restaurant Osteria del Borgo is excellent.

Stayed here with my son, for 100 Euro a night represented great value. Right next main Piazza. Clean pleasant, unique styling of room. Windows opened to sweeping Tuscan countryside views. Steep stairs to climb and locks to open, wouldn't recommend for Seniors. Also included a simple breakfast, staff speak minimal English and made it hard to communicate and get info.

Room Tip: Get a country side room that has fabulous views of the Tuscan rolling hills.

Excellent place to stay in Montepulciano. Old house right in downtown. They let you park your car right in front of the hotel, but call first so they will give you instructions and won't get a ticket. The owner is very nice and gave us some explanations about Italina wines (by the way, we visit Caserta as you recommended, thanks!). They have a very good restaurant in the same building, we tried great Italian food and also tasted great Montepulciano wines. Since it is an old building there is no elevator. Definitely if you are thinking to go to Toscana, you should stay in Osteria del Borgo. Me and my family want to thank the owner and his son for being so kind to us during our stay. We will go back some day!

Room Tip: Probably the rooms facing the country side are more quiet rooms than the ones facing the Piazza

Get reservations if you want to sit outside for sunset. Try to get seats close to the edge of the patio for best view.
The food and wine was excellent. We got the bruschetta trio, a wild boar ragu pasta and roasted veggies. Loved it all!

We had such a wonderful dinner and experience here that we came back a second night. Our waitress, Claudia, definitely made it very special and a dinner that we will remember for a long time. She is very professional but once she figured out our sense of humor, she didn't hold back and had us cracking up laughing all night. If you don't want her honest opinion about the menu or wines, don't ask! She took the time to explain why she recommended certain dishes and wines and helped us make the best decision for what we were in the mood for. You can see that she has a real passion for her job and pride in what she does. The food was excellent and the views from the terrace at sunset were spectacular. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
