We were wandering Positano in search of a lunch with a view and stumbled on the Eden Roc hotel, which has a primo position high on the cliff with a sweeping panoramic view of the seaside below. It was a quiet time of day--an early summer afternoon. The front desk staffer was friendly and helpful, suggesting we take a look at their casual, rooftop dining venue. We did. Wow! There was only one other table of diners, so we got a "ringside seat" on the edge of the balcony--the view couldn't have been more spectacular. My partner had a delicious pasta. I was in the mood for a specific, simple salad (not among the many good choices on the menu), and they were happy to oblige: arugula, cherry tomatoes (a local specialty in season--these were "just-picked" fresh and the tastiest ever!) and good-sized shreds of parmesan (see pic). Our server was handsome and obliging--what more can a girl hope for?! All in all, this was a lagniappe for us, and we enthusiastically recommend it!

Stayed at Eden Roc and decided to eat here one night. We ordered the tasting menu which was 4 courses and pretty average. First when I think of tasting menu, I expect a gastronomy type experience. Not here, it was more of a traditional meal with appetizer, 1st course, 2nd course, and dessert. One thing was the portions were huge. Most people might like that but it was a little overwhelming. Food was not anything special and some of the sauces were a little bland. Nothing was bad but nothing really spectacular.

One of our favorite restaurants is the Eden Roc in St Barths so we were really excited to try Adamo ed Eva. We were sorely disappointed, it is not anywhere near that caliber in a sense of quality of food or service. Our table was by a swimming pool, kind of weird to eat dinner and know any moment someone may jump into a pool next to you. The service was moderately inattentive, or typically Italian, however we were told at the end of the meal that service was not included in the bill and that we had to tip extra. We have never seen that before in Italy, it is just not done, and it left a very bad taste in my mouth.

The food was forgettable, nothing stood out, it felt like we were eating in a touristy trattoria that was overpriced. I think we liked the fried calamari best and that says a lot because fried calamari is basically like pub food in Italy.

The worst part was when we asked for a recommendation for a bottle of red wine around 100 euro, our waiter told us he knows just the thing and opened for us a gross slightly tinted white that was a local Amalfi wine, it tasted metallic and undrinkable, it was only 30 euro and it made me wonder if the guy was making this wine in his basement, he was very enthusiastic and pushy about it and I don't think either one of us had more than a sip, I don't think we have ever left a bottle of wine on the table. It was horrible.

The only saving grace of the restaurant is that they have a free shuttle service.
In any case, I recommend going to Max instead, much better food, wine and service (alas no shuttle).
