“Amazing! Fantastic!”

Magnificnet 600 year old villa that has been updated with all modern conveniences. 2 bedrooms, 3 baths, full kitchen. The terrace is amazing and has the best view of the city and sea in Positano. It is 91 stairs up from the main street, so you need to be in shape. I would go back again in a hearbeat!

Beautiful Italian villa overlooking the town of Positano with wonderful views of the Amalfi Coast. Clean and beautifully furnished this family villa was the perfect location. We enjoyed the Talamo family's restaurant, Al Barilotto del Nonno, the best family style food on the coast. Fresh grown vegetables, wine and olive oil from their gardens, this hard working Italian family made us feel very welcome and part of their family. I highly recommend their villa and their restaurant.

Villa Talamo A 4

We stayed here the last week of April and the first week of May. Since there was no first hand description of

this property I wanted to fill you in here. First, a large gated parking area with room for 2 good sized cars,

one for you and one for the villa upstairs. From the parking area down 67 steps to your front door, and from that

door to the street below is another 92 steps. I will post a floor plan, living room, dining room and both

bedrooms are each one about 23 x 25 feet square, maybe a bit more. Bathroom off of living room, toilet,

bath/shower, sink, separate water heater (8x12?) good sized kitchen, does have an American style electric coffee

pot as well as all you might need. Former guests had left salt, pepper, spices, oil, coffee etc and the liquor

cabinet also had a dozen bottles to sample. The villa is the family home of the owner and is filled with personal

mementos. The other two baths are across the hall from the bedrooms. The bathroom across from the queen bedroom

is about twice as large as the other, and has a washing machine in it. The patio is nicely outfitted with lounge

chairs and a table for dining, games, etc. umbrella and cushions are stored in the side hall past the bedrooms.

The living room holds the TV and WI-FI router, as far as TV in English its CNN and BBC news shows, with an

occasional movie in English on one of the Italian channels. the WI-FI in Positano is not what you may be used to,

but you are in a small seaside village so...
there is no clothes dryer, but a drying rack is on the patio and sunshine is abundent, and the bathrooms each

have an electric towel dryer that well dry a shirt or shorts.
Just up the road from the parking area is a small grocery store that was able to fill most of our needs, (note:

as you walk in the door there is a alcove with wine, they have an unlabled local "house wine" for 3.50 euros

which is quite good, try it). For meat we found Cuomo's butcher shop, at the foot of the "shortcut steps" to the

pedestrian street, very good. There is also a "delikitessen" within 30 feet of it that has a nice supply of

products at a higher price than the store near the villa.
The villa has all you need, including a nice selection of reading matter passed on but former tenants, the beds

and linens are good as well, they also provide umbrellas, soap, TP and shampoo. There are heating units in the

bedrooms and in the dining room (that also covers the living room). You will have to pay for the electric power

you use, for two weeks it cost us about $120, but we had about 3-4 days when we ran the heat a lot, as well as

hot water for four people and running several loads of washing.
As for what the villa lacks I would say one small thing Giovanni can add, is a doorstop for the door from the

kitchen to the hall, (we used a book) that’s it!
If big fluffy towels are your thing, then pack a few, I would also recommend bringing along a pair of house

slippers, the tile floors can be chilly and of course, are very hard. The soap and shampoo are very basic, but

most people bring their own, you should too. One other thing I always pack is a good sharp paring knife with it’s

cover, if you do any cooking it’s always better than what is provided and takes little room in checked luggage..

Also if you have room a pound or two of you favorite coffees, pre ground, and vacuum packed in a nice neat brick.
While we were there we had two power outtages, one for a few minutes, the other for about two hours. The villa is

equipt with emergency lights, but do pack a small flashlight.
Speaking of electronics, if you pack a power strip that can handle 220 volts, udd an adaptor to that then plug

your things into the standard outlets on your strip. In the Villa dining room there is a built in shelf with an

outlet that we found to be an excellent charging station for our phones, ipad/ipod etc.
The owner Giovanni Talamo also has a B&B/Restaurant called "IL BARILOTTO DEL NONNO", we ate there twice and it

was a delight. Giovanni, and his sister Raquel, nephew Massimmo and waiter Mario, excel at pleasing their

customers and they, along with their staff have been known to break out in song, to the delight of us all!
We also toured the new rooms they have added to this B&B and they were very nice, a good choice to anyone who was

looking to econimize.

Note: If you are renting a car to drive around the Amalfi coast, get an automatic unless you drive a standard

shift a LOT, you will be in 1st, 2nd and reverse most of the time.

We had a wonderful two week stay at Villa Talamo. What a wonderful location, fantastic views, just as good as advertised on the internet. Positano is a wonderful location, the town is breathtaking. A very well equipped villa, everything that you need is here. Having on-site parking is a huge bonus. Lots of good restaurants and supermarkets within walking distance. Would love to come back one day.
