We knew we found a great place as soon as we stepped into the foyer of this hotel! The lady at the reception desk was so enthusiastic and helpful. Even just when we got to our bedroom,we had a knock on the door from yet another exuberant young member of staff congratulating us on our marriage and producing a bottle of champagne for us to enjoy compliments of the hotel.
The staff were consistently helpful, always giving little tips about select places to eat and visit, that would not be thronged by other tourists. They are genuinely the top in customer service.

My friend and I stayed at the Savoia at the beginning of August and we were impressed by the warm welcome and information given on check-in. The reception area was attractive with painted tile floors which give the place character throughout. The whole hotel was spotlessly clean, from the comfortable lounge area to the bedrooms. There are delightful terraces on which to sit, admiring beautiful views across Positano. The hotel is situated close to the pedestrian part of town, and is only a 5minute stroll through the town to the sea front (probably 10 on the way back up!) A slight downside is that it is situated on quite a busy narrow road, so there is traffic noise, but this would probably be the case in most Positano hotels. My room was on the third floor and I could not hear the traffic when the windows were closed, so it was not a problem for me.
I would definitely recommend the hotel to those wishing to stay in this lovely resort.

Room Tip: There are some beautiful suites overlooking the view of Positano.

I just came back from a whirlwind trip of France and Italy and Hotel Savoia in Positano was our third stop. We stayed at Savoia for 4 nights. Positano is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful places that I've been to in the world and Savoia helped to make our time there truly memorable.

Location: the location is amazing!! It's located 30 seconds from the bus stop (if you are hoping to take the bus up the mountain) and about a 10 minute walk from the beach. On your way down to the beach you walk through a narrow pedestrian street full of cute shops and vendors selling jewellery and custom hand-made sandals (which I definitely indulged in!). There are a number of stores and delicious restaurants a short walk away as well.

The hotel: Quite spacious for a European hotel that is built on a steep mountain! The lobby is a decent size and very colourful and bright. There is a large common area on Floor 1 (most European hotels count the ground floor as Floor 0). This area includes a sitting area with several comfy chairs, couches, and a TV. A lot of people gathered there to tune into the Olympics or to check their emails (wifi is strongest on this floor, though we found it tricky to log in and frequently had to go get new passwords. I believe the instability of the wifi has something to do with the mountains). It also includes a large sitting area with a balcony where we enjoyed breakfast and drinks later in the day. Breakfast was good, but could perhaps use a bit more variety (felt a bit repetitive after 4 days). There is also a nice terrace area through the sliding doors at the far end of the room that was beautiful and quiet (good for making phone calls home from!).

Staff: probably the friendliest staff of all the hotels that I stayed at on this trip! It's a family owned hotel and they are very warm, hard-working people. You can tell they care a lot about your comfort and happiness while you are there. They were extremely helpful in booking dinner reservations (and calling for complimentary shuttles to pick us up) and giving us directions to places. The front desk staff in particular were great at remembering our room number and would quickly grab our room key for us as they saw us returning to the hotel. The men who worked during breakfast and at the bar were also very friendly and would remember our routine coffee and cappucino orders in the morning. It's their attention to detail that truly made us feel welcomed and cared for!

Our room: our room on floor 2 was huge!! This was the largest room that we had on this trip. It had tall, domed ceilings and a beautiful, bright and colouful floor. There was a large closet and several drawers for us to unpack our clothes into and tons of floor space so we never felt cramped. The bathroom was quite large as well and had a very modern shower with electronic settings. The room was very clean too! My favourite part of the room however had to be the balcony! It was furnished with a table and 2 chairs as well as 2 very comfortable lounge chairs. The balcony was large and we had a gorgeous view of the colouful houses/hotels that were built up along the mountain and we could also see the water!

We had a delightful stay at Savoia and I would highly recommend this place to anyone staying in Positano!

Just completed a 4day stay at the Savoia in Positano, a friendly, professionally run and airconditioned hotel. The staff were helpful, welcoming and knowledgable. the restaurants that were recommended were excellent as was all of their information about points of interests in the local area. Each day we were greeted warmly and helped to make our stay unforgetable.

Room Tip: 2nd floor rooms have balconies with loung chairs.

Hotel Savoia is a lovely, family run boutique hotel in the heart of Positano. Splurge for the balcony - they are spacious, with private sunning areas, lounge chairs, table, all overlooking the town and a glimpse of the sea. Mind you, that does mean your room will hug the main road in town, which has a fair amount of road noise, but not worth giving up the balcony. The spotless rooms are incredibly spacious, with a lovely huge bed, great a/c, large wardroom, beautiful blue tiled floors, massive bathroom with my "dream-come-true" shower - consisting of electronic temperature gauge, sauna settings, and multiple variations of water jets. Loved it!!! We were greeted upon arrival with a bottle of sparkling wine and well wishes for our one-year wedding anniversary, which was delightful, given it was one of only two places on our 2 week trip that remembered! Breakfast was relaxing and with many options, including an espresso bar with table service. Our wi-fi never worked in the room, but isn't vacation about getting away from it all! We used our time at breakfast to check email or would stop by one of many lounge areas to check in. If you arrive from the port, have directions printed out. We thought a tiny town like Positano would be a breeze, but when it's 95 degrees and you're carrying bags up endless steps and curving alleys, you lose your bearings. Once we found it and settled in, it became our dream home for visiting the Amalfi coast. I look forward to a return visit!! Thanks also to the gracious staff.
