My friends and I stayed at Villa Ridente at the end of summer, oh my goodness did we love it here!
Firstly, yes, it is a bit of a haul uphill from the SITA bus stop, but this is the Amalfi coast, so if you don't like hills, don't come here, because all of it is in the side of steep hills and cliffs. however, herein lies it's beauty and appeal, with spectacular scenery abounding. And the local bus that runs between the more popular and bustling Positano and Praiano runs right past the front door and stops in the small square just up the road, so you can avoid the
longer uphill walk if it's killing you.
The rooms are generous and spacious, present exactly as pictured and include linen and
towels. The kitchens also large and well equipped, though if memory serves it doesn't have a toaster. There is also a washer and drier and clotheslines available in the villa.
The views are breathtakingly beautiful, exactly as pictured. We sat out on the little front patio
each evening for pre dinner drinks, watching the sunsets. My friend vowed that when she
returns to Italy she is going to stay at Villa Ridente, she loved it so much.
The owner met us at the bus stop, guided us up to the villa and suggested a few local
restaurants for dinner. He also called in to check we were comfortable during our stay, so attention from the owner was not lacking.
There is a small, well supplied grocery store down in the street at the foot of the villas stairs, and a larger supermarket about 15 minutes stroll away. There are plenty of local restaurants, cafes, grocery stores selling bus tickets, local tour companies and amazing walks in all directions.
We did not have a car but managed very well with the local SITA buses (getting on can be a bit of a bun fight, they don't run often enough to service demand), visiting Positano, Pompeii, Sorrento and Capri during our stay as week as walking the wondrous Footpath of the Gods - amazing!
I would definitely recommend Villa Ridente to families with older children who can manage a bit of walking, able bodied seniors and groups of friends.
