The main hotel structure is indeed a tasteful renovation of a historic building with rooms in a modern style within that area. Yes, there are private patios and in back a terraced garden. Beyond that - we had frustrations. We were travelling with another couple, also well-travelled. All of us found the rooms small with bathing facilities awkward and tight for space. We understand that the owner intends to add further rooms on the upstairs - we urge that they add another 15% in space to make the rooms more comfortable and reconsider the configuration of the shower/bathtub combination. The location is off the main part of the new town - the hotel says a 5 minute drive. It is that if not more. The old historic center even further. There are no restaurants, even shops in the area of the hotel so you must either take a taxi or drive - or walk a long way. We’re walkers but even we hesitated. The hotel might provide a courtesy shuttle. Also disappointed that the welcome drink was not offer.

What a lovely and comfortable stay! Service is excellent and welcoming, breakfast is delicious (too many sweets though) and a lovely garden to spend your morning in. The hotel is inside an older beautiful house but with very modern rooms and very fresh, lovely bathrooms. Located a bit on the outskirts of the city, there are excellent communications to old town and back. You will not be making that trip on foot on the way back ayway. Recommended!

We stayed at the Vila while touring Sicily and Malta, on a motorbike and upon arrival on the ferry from Malta, so around 21:00. It is indeed a great architectural refurbishment as the place is up to point, yet pretty far walking from Ragusa center and in a rather doggy neighborhood. Booking posted that it has a private parking on site, and it does not, there is no parking and so we had to leave the bike in the street. Minors which could benefit from some improvement: 1. the air conditioning in the room works only with the key inside and so the rooms are mainly hot, it is worth mentioning since it was 34c, at 21:00. 2. There is nothing to eat in the room, no mini bar with snacks (there are drinks only) and nothing could be served by 21:30 at the hotel. The best offered solution was to get a restaurant, and again booking advertises the room as fully served. Both receptionists were very helpful and nice.

Dear Ritinha74,

thank you to taking a time to write a review of your stay at Villa Boscarino.

We are sorry to didn’t satisfy all your needs but the information provided about parking place are not correct.

Arriving at Villa, our guest get free parking place of front the house, as you can check by photo gallery on a website and online travel agencies. We didn’t receive any question prior your arrival about car park, we would have been glad to confirm that we provide non-secure car park.

We take a note of your tips and we need to clarify as following:

1. Air conditioning in the room works only with the key inside to be sustainable and wastefulness, but maybe you wouldn’t take care of earth. This kind of room is very particular and it’s very difficult reach 34c as mentioned because the natural stone of walls preserve the temperature of the room. Thank you to provide temperature without any tool. We would remind you also the different situation the morning of check-out at breakfast: you informed the front desk of forgetting the key inside the room and we came up to take it during your breakfast, later your husband make a complaint because we removed the key and he wanted the air conditioning works on.

2. That’s true, for a moment we don’t provide snack on a minibar but it’s false that nothing could be served by 9.30 pm at the hotel. All restaurants are open until midnight and a lot provide take away service.

We would invite you to pay attention of information provided because, as mentioned on each online travel agency, we haven’t restaurant in hotel and we can’t offer food or making food in house. We invite you, for next trip to spend just few minutes more reading the hotel facilities before the reservation and to write review not clear.

Kind regards

I generally only write positive reviews, but our 2-night stay at Villa Boscarino calls out for mentioning many things..First, while the Villa is in a quiet spot with onsite parking, it is also pretty remote. Getting anywhere in Ragusa (to the sites, restaurants, etc.) requires a 15-20 minute walk and a steep uphill climb on the return. The "reception" area (a small sofa) is right in front of the hotel desk, and there is no other gathering/common space except outside. In addition, there is a room right off this reception area, so the desk clerk will continually ask that one not linger or talk in this space. The rooms are small and have only one window, making them pretty dark. We had plumbing issues: the shower doesn't drain well and within minutes, one is standing in a pool of water. In addition, there was a group of 10 (taking 5 rooms) while we were there. By the time we got in the shower (after them), the hot water was depleted and we took cold showers...Our first night, the gal on the front desk recommended and sent all of us (the other 10 and us 4) to a restaurant that was closed; it turns out it is always closed on Thursday nights. At breakfast, the fresh fruit was not replenished, even though we were there long before the end of the breakfast time. And finally, upon checkout, the new person at the front desk insisted we hadn't paid for our rooms, although our agent had (way in advance), and it took us some precious time to sort through all this (our agent had, in fact, sent several emails confirming payment and she was pretty upset to hear about this situation). Of all the places we stayed in Sicily, Villa Boscarino was by far the most disappointing.

Dear Mrs. Graham alias Sagittarias1,

Thank you to taking a time to write a review of your stay at Villa Boscarino.

I am very surprised to read that ‘I generally only write positive reviews’ (on 10 contributions, 2 are for your travel agency) and to don’t talk at the front desk with the manager. Usually, illustrate complains is necessary to improve the service.

First of all, take a note that your custom travel agency made a reservation by Booking (It’s like buy on Amazon not like an upper class service!), where it’s specified distance, facilities and there are more than 15 photos of Villa, parking included.

Villa is an old house under the Italian regulation of historical building and it’s not possible modified the original spaces; for this reason each space was created preserving it.

Honestly, we don’t ask to no talk of front the reception but if you speak loudly at night, we invite you to reduce the voice to respect other guests. It’s an ordinary behavior in common area, not only there.

During the day, guests can accommodate outdoor or indoor in the ancient private chapel. It are at disposal always.

The rooms reserved were Standard with size between 14 and 18 m2 as specified on Booking, maybe its were not the type of room for your needs and the travel agent could book the Comfort rooms with private patio. Each of room is equipped with a French door height 2,70 mt and elettric shutter, so I would be delighted to know how was pretty dark.

About the shower, as explained you the morning, anybody make complaint of it. We checked the boiler and system and everything was fine and only you make complaint of it, not your friends.

About the restaurant, we would have appreciated the real story as explained also to your travel agent after the check-out. We propose min. 2 restaurants. Main restaurants are closed on Monday and if they change the day off we don’t know, normally if the guest choose a place and advise us, we call to confirm the availability or make a reservation. I spoke with Stefania, the front desk agent in charge on Thursday to get more information. She proposed different restaurants and ask if you wanted make a reservation; you decline the proposal and goes out. At return, she asked as usual and you replied that one was closed but found another place and it was fine. Any complaint about it.

For the breakfast we are sorry but we restock during the breakfast every product and it’s not usual leave our guests without it.

The person at the check-out was me and I am very surprised to read that I insisted with you for a payment. I just ask one time and listening your answer I take some minutes to contact the colleague (Enrico) and your travel agent to get more information. In 10 minutes we resolved it.

As explained you, your travel agent didn’t send any email (we can demonstrate it and she confirmed it!) but just make a phone call, talking with Enrico to authorize the payment of rooms at the check-out with her credit card.

I apologize with both for the mistake and disturb, it was our error. We are human and make error but we believe that confess it’s also synonymous of professionalism. Before your leaving I explained it and you understood the misinterpretation and tell me that was ok but you wasn’t true.

I and the staff are astounded and demonstrated of your review that not reflect the real soul of the place and works that we made every day with our guests.

Kind regards
