“Charming Farmhouse hotel”
Reviewed 20 November 2011

We stayed four nights as part of a tour group and were very impressed.

The hotel is also a working farm and all rooms face on to a grassed courtyard - the daytime home of a gander and his geese, shepherded by a lovely german shepherd.

The rooms are generous and modern, although inkeeping with the country style. Bathrooms was lovely, as were the toiletries.

The breakfast buffet was extensive, fresh and frequently replenished.

It was a lovely place to return to after a long day exlporing the surrounds of Saluzzo.

Thank you for taking time to write about our hotel as we always find great pleasure in reading them. Unfortunately the gander passed away earlier this year and now we only have the 2 widowed geese roaming the courtyard always under the ever watchful eye of Cuciolo (the yard dog).

We stayed at the Antico Podere Propano for one night. On my reservation I requested a first floor room but when we arrived a second floor room was assigned to us. A change was made and we were happy with our room. The decor is tasteful, the rooms are comfortably large. This room looked out on the spacious courtyard.
We consulted the owner for a restaurant. Unfortunately, the restaurant was not good. I am including a review of the restaurant here:
The restaurant, Interno Due in Saluzzo, was recommended with enthusiasm by our hotel, Antico Podere Propano. Since we had an excellent experience with restaurants in this region we kept our appetite for dinner and, with anticipation, found this restaurant.
The food was horrible. My wife ordered Tagliolini al Fungi Porcini which was a small portion of noodle without sauce and contained two small pieces of tomato. She had to ask for parmesan cheese to add some taste to the otherwise tasteless noodles.
The meat she ordered was the Agnello al Forno and it was over cooked, dry and without juice.
My main dish was Tagliata and it was quit bad. The appetizer was a strudel which was actually good, but this was the only high point of the meal.
When we gave our credit card to pay for this almost entirely poor meal the waitress returned the card saying we can not use this card. However, when we went to the counter easily it went through. That was the finally of our experience at Interno Due.
Breakfast at the Antico Podere Propano was good with many choices.
Taking all into consideration, our stay at the Antico Podere Propano was very good and we recommend it.

We stayed here (2 adults, 2 children) in July 2009. We were visiting from our home in neighbouring France (just the other side of the Col Agnel). We found it to be fantastic. We had a large room and bathroom, and the staff were very good in helping us choose the best place for dinner with our children. Saluzzo is a fantastic city, and Antico Podere Propano is the best place to stay while visiting.

Room Tip: We booked a room for a family, so the children stayed on a double bed in the separate living area...

My husband and I stayed in Saluzzo for 4 nights and the folks at this hotel were helpful and professional. They helped us choose places to eat dinner, find locations for hiking in the Alps and made a reservation at a restaurant for us. The hotel rooms are very clean and comfortable with tile floors, large windows, and a quiet location. Breakfast was a large buffet with breads, pastries, fresh fruit, cereals, great italian cheeses, hard-boiled eggs, and yogurt. From the photos, it looks like the hotel might be out in the country, but it's not - there's just a lot of space around it. It took us only 10-15 minutes to walk downtown and to the old Medieval part of Saluzzo. There's a computer in the lobby with internet, but the Wifi isn't free and not all the rooms have it.

Room Tip: The quietest rooms are the ones that overlook the interior coutyard.

We stayed in this hotel last week and would certainly stay there again. The way that the hotel has been created in this farmhouse is an excellent fusion of old and interesting architecture with modern interiors that offer every comfort. The staff were very helpful and always pleasant. The hotel is also an excellent base for exploring the surrounding area.

Thank you for your time and positive comments. Just to update you that now we offer WIFI free and only 3 rooms don't receive it due to their position so if we know before arrival we always assign rooms with this service if required.

The hotel is set in a nicely renovated old building, on a working farm, on the edge of town. The rooms are very comfortable, the breakfasts good and the owners and other staff friendly. The staff provided us with great ideas on how to spend our time in the area. "Old" Saluzzo is lovely, with cobbled streets and medieval buildings. It is a short drive to a castle with wonderful art and to a beautiful Abbey. Several alpine villages are also nearby, with hiking paths along the Po river.

This is a lovely hotel in a beautiful small city. It is right on the edge of town, within walking distance, but offers the feel of being in the countryside. The hotel is very modern, but retains a traditional atmosphere. Our Jr. Suite was large, very clean and bright, with tasteful, high quality furnishings. The room had two small balconies and overlooked the courtyard of the old farm, where a dog and his three geese "friends" roamed. Breakfast was very nice and was served in a cozy, atmospheric room. The English-speaking owners were gracisous, welcoming and very helpful. On a clear day you have a beautiful view of the Alps from the parking lot. We stayed here only one night, but wish it had been more. We have stayed at many hotels across Europe, and this was one of our favorites.
