Perfect place for a holiday stay

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Jan 7, 2020
We spent the week of Christmas here and would love to return. The rooms were quaint and comfortable. The staff was OUTSTANDING. They were attentive and incredibly accommodating. The food was terrific and creative, but there was something for even us picky eaters. The location was perfect with just a short walk to the downtown area as well as within walking distance to Tognola, although you could take the bus that picked up directly in front of the hotel.

The spa area was a hit for the kids and adults after a long day of skiiing.

I took a massage at Sayonara hotel, along with a few friends. The ladies working there were very kind and professional.
However the management of the spa was very rude with us. When my friends complained, she told them that they have their returning clients and we could well go somewhere else if we were not happy. Furthermore, since we had paid a deposit and we would have had the treatment in different timings, I told the lady I would have paid after the massage, along with my friends when everybody would have finished; she did not wait that, when i was already having my massage and my friends arrived, she pretended the money from them to pay my massage in advance. Not recommended, there's plenty of spas around, very easy to be more welcoming.

Their spa is marvelous! nicely renovated and harmonious space, relaxing area has really nice 'floating' deckchairs (I almost fel asleep) and of course a good choice of relaxing tea. I appreciated the aroma turkish bath and showers with color therapy. But the very best part is the outdoor heated whirlpool (connected through glass door directly with the indoor pool) with the best view you can wish for at the mountains. We were lucky enough to have the same view from the room terrace and from the table at the restaurant. Our package included breakfast and dinner through our stay and I have to say that it was the highlight. We liked everything we got and the service of the restaurant is friendly and welcoming- they made us feel special.
We stayed during the summer season and the hotel collaborated with the local alpine guides and organized free guided tours in the area. Also they provided us a discount for the cable way.
Room we stayed in was a good size for few nights, bathroom was clean and we had no issue (except we dont like carpet in hotel rooms, but it is our thing). I especially enjoyed hearing a herd of cows going to grazing every morning.
All in all we had really good stay. At Sayonara they are able to make you feel local life and traditions in comfortable modern way. We would definitely stay again (even for a winter stay) and we would recommend it for a romantic holiday.

Room tip: ask for the room facing mountain view, not woods

We had a wonderful 5 night at the ultra-welcoming Hotel Sayonara. Food was outstanding based on typical, local dishes (and they even prepared our favourite dessert for our last night as a surprise), wonderful spa, comfortable room and an ever friendly and helpful family-based staff. Well deserving of more than its current 3 star superior rating and recommended unreservedly.

We just had a great midweek stay at hotel sayonara. The food was excellent and varied and there was plenty of it, the rooms clean and comfortable and the spa and swimming area one of the best I've visited. But what we most appreciated was the personal touch; without exception the staff were friendly and went to every length to help us. The menu was adapted to suit vegetarians, appeared translated into English on our table, and favourite drinks remembered. We were kindly dropped off at the bus station at the end of our stay. Everyone was friendly and Florian, Luca and Ilenia speak excellent English and were particularly kind. The location's good, near to the tognola ski lift and ski buses to everywhere stop right outside the hotel.

This was the first time my husband and I have visited this hotel. I have to say we were completely blown away by the exceptional customer care and great standards of this family run hotel!! We have been skiing in the Dolomites for the last 5 years and over these years we have stayed in a number of hotels ranging from 5 to 3 stars. We have never quite experienced the right balance of luxury versus customer care but this hotel offers this in abundance! It offers the luxury of a 5 star hotel and the exceptional customer care that can only usually be experienced from a small family run business!! Nothing was ever too much trouble for them!! The owners were extremely kind and really attentive to our needs! It felt like visiting and staying with family!! The location of the Hotel is absolutely ideal as it is a 5 minute walk to the picturesque Town Centre and 10 minutes to one of the main ski lifts the Tognola. We found ourselves just walking everywhere. The ski bus also stops just outside the Hotel. However, the best thing about the location of this Hotel is the most amazing view of the mountains "le Pale di San Martino" just in front of the Hotel! It was just incredible and lovely every morning to open our windows to that!! The Hotel is in the style of a cosy traditional Tirolesi design. Thus, it was a real surprise to discover the most Modern stylish award winning spa! The facilities in the spa were amazing! Some of our favourites were the relaxing outdoor jacuzzi pool surrounding by the mountains, the waterbeds relaxation area and the array of therapeutic saunas. This was a real treat to come to every night after a long day of skiing. The food was also exceptional! My Italian husband and I are real 'foodies' and we are by our own admission very fussy! The menus consisted of traditional dishes prepared to the high standards of a Michelin Star Restaurant! Luca, the owner's son was in charge of the Restaurant and he ensured these standards were maintained. He and the rest of his friendly staff were always attentive. They would explain the menu, source of the ingredients and they were even prepared at times to change the menu should any guest wish to. The hotel just met all our needs! The owners made great suggestions on places to visit and trekking ideas. Thanks to one of their suggestions we saw one of the best sunsets we have ever seen in Baita Segantini! The owner's daughter, Antonella is also a ski instructor which is very handy as should you need this service you don't need to worry about going to ski schools. She too was extremely kind and we had some great lessons with her! As other guests left we noticed they always said "see you next year"! Now, we understand why! We too shall be definitely coming back next year! If you are looking for a Hotel that offers luxury facilities, amazing food, exceptional care and great value for money you are not going to find any better in the Dolomites than Hotel Sayonara!!! Well done Rita, Antonella and Luca & many thanks for your kindness and making our stay memorable! See you next year! Ama Curinga. X
