Just come back from a long weekend in San Pellegrino - a lovely town. I feel compelled to write a review on behalf of Hotel Bigio which seems to have the same ratings as other hotels in town, but is clearly the best. They have a smart dining room with wine and food to match (really amazing & great value), yet it had a relaxed atmosphere, no discernible dress code. a street-front bar with locals and an amazing patisserie counter. The building is of its time, but they have modernised the rooms which are basic but good. A very nice couple run it and the staff have a enough English that everything works. Overall, amazing food and incredible value. If you stay somewhere else, at least go there to eat.

The best thing about this hotel is the restaurant. We never pay for dinner in our hotel however having read previous reviews we were persuaded to. The food and service were so good we dinned in the hotel twice!
Communal areas of the hotel are very dated, however our room was modern.
Beautiful tranquil views to the front and back of the property.
Perfectly located for the spa, only a two minute walk and the hotel provide a 10% discount.
Very limited breakfast but overall great value for money.
Our only disappointment was that we didn’t get a balcony having upgraded to a superior room.

The hotel is a mix of old fashioned and newly renovated. In some ways very charming - in other ways a bit tacky. Some days very friendly staff - other days a bit rude. But all in all we love the mix of it all - and the food is excellent every time. Sit in the backyard enjoying the low prices, the good view and the tranquility between the mountains.

Hotel Bigio is a rather cosy hotel in a such lovely place of Italy, San Pellegrino, located among the river Brembo. Nice view is out of the windows, beautiful area around and friendly staff. Was staying in April, but felt very cold in the room, especially in the mornings. Meals were frugal but tasty. Wifi signal strength was good only near the reception area, but bad and unstable - in the room.

Stayed on business. Was located on the 3rd floor which is very dated, the first floor looked much more modern. The breakfast buffet is ok if you like cake or ham and cheese sandwiches but thats it. It was so basic it was almost laughable. The adjoining bar is really good though, regularly bringing delicious tapas to your table with an excellent bar selection. The evening meal was a very basic fixed menu with little choice. I hoped the Tiramisu dessert would redeam what was a poor meal, but it was no more than a supermarket plastic pot type!! and it was utterly revolting.
8th visit to Italy, I genuinely didnt believe food of such poor quality was possible in this country!

Room Tip: First floor is a must. Floor 2 and 3 are from the 60's
