Best hotel from our three site tour. Breakfast was good, snacks were good and the restaurant was also good. The pool, bar, sunbeds and availability of food made our stay a very pleasant and good one. We intend to go there again when we go to Italy next (not something we make a habit of doing). My wife and I would certainly recommend this hotel. One small point, is Sorrento the 53rd state of the USA?

Welcome & reception – we received a warm welcome from the longer haired chap on reception, he helped carry our bags to our room and offered info on the area, but clearly understood we were tired from travelling and said we were welcome to head back to reception any time if we needed information. He happily gave us a map of the area and pointed out the bus stop etc, and pointed out the wifi code for us.

Reception can help you book day trips and they are clearly disappointed if you have prebooked via another provider, as we had. I can only assume that this is because it means they won’t get commission!

Room – the room was a good size, and very clean and well maintained. The wall safe and aircon were included in the price. Twin beds were provided as booked. The bathroom was also well maintained, with plenty of hot water. I believe some English TV may be available; there was none during our stay as they were having the satellite equipment fixed. A high floor was provided as requested, do note if booking a pool view room that the pool view from the balcony (complete with window box full of plants!) may be partly obscured by the awnings over the pool bar area, if you are in the main building. There isn’t a fridge in the room, which would be a welcome addition. Note – for anyone with mobility issues, there is no lift, and the breakfast room is down some stairs too.

Pool area & pool bar – well maintained, clean, pretty plants. The pool isn’t massive, but bit enough to cool off. No parasols, but each sunbed has a built in sunshade for your head which you can adjust. The pool bar seemed to have decent prices and a good selection of drinks. Pool towels can be obtained for free at the pool bar, just pick up a token at reception.

Breakfast - a buffet, taken inside in the 2-level breakfast room. Croissants, jams, yoghurt, fruit, slices of ham and cheese, bread for toasting, cereals, juice, and fresh coffee are available, along with a small amount of hot food, which varies upon your arrival time. It included pieces of omelette and fried eggs, along with the slightly unusual roasted vegetables. The first day there were some issues with availability of juice, cutlery etc, but these were not experienced on our other days.

Location – the hotel is secluded along a quiet side road a good 20 minutes walk from Piazza Tasso, the “start” of central Sorrento. You can either walk into town along the quieter side streets closer to the sea, or go along the main road, Corso Italia. Be aware that Corso Italia has narrow pavements, some sections with no pavement, and is quite noisy. On a couple of occasions we tried to take the bus into town. The buses supposedly run every 20 mins. The bus stop is on Corso Italia by Hotel Gardenia, a 5 minute walk from the hotel (and involves a section with no pavement). On at least 2 occasions we waited a long time for a bus to no avail and ended up walking all along the noisy Corso Italia anyway. Take a torch for late night returns as the narrow street from Corso Italia to the hotel is not lit all the way along.

To get to the hotel from Naples airport, we opted for the Curreri Viaggi coach from Naples Airport to Sorrento. It costs just 10E per person and officially takes 1.5 hrs but can take longer in traffic to wind it’s way through the coastal towns and villages. I wouldn’t suggest pre-booking the coach for 2 reasons: a) your flight may be late, causing you to miss the coach you’ve booked and b) booking doesn’t seem to guarantee you a seat on the coach at a specific time.
The coach drops you off at the circumvesuviana train station which is just outside Sorrento centre. A taxi from the station to the hotel, or vice versa, costs 20-25 euros, which is very expensive for a journey of less than 10 mins/2km even in free-flowing traffic. The taxis are metered, and the cost was almost identical for the return journey.

All in all, this is a nice, well maintained and well run hotel in a quiet area, at a good price, but the trade off for the quiet location and pool is inevitably a longer distance to town.

My boyfriend and I stayed for 6 nights. We planned to see all the sights, but most of the time ended up staying at the hotel, round the pool! A perfect balance of culture and relaxation. Was great to arrive back after an excursion and take a refreshing dip, or read our books in the lemon tree garden, with a drink from the hotel bar. EVERY member of staff was accommodating, attentive, friendly and informative. When we arrived, we were told all about getting the options for excursions (cheaper than those we found on our own in town!). Sorrento was a bit of a walk, but there were pleasant views and shops and places to eat along the way. The more local restaurants that we went to were also very nice! Importantly, I have coeliacs and Alfonso and the team made sure I was well fed! Gluten free bread for our eggs at breakfast and the bruschetta at dinner in the hotel restaurant. Side note: the sea bass was amazing!!! De-boned and descaled table side. We were even made a gluten free pizza on pizza night, so we could sit out in the garden with friends we’d made and not feel left out! On our last morning, we were given gf muffins with our coffees. Any problems were always quickly dealt with and resolved. Our room was always cleaned, no matter what time of day we rolled out of bed! This does not feel like a 3-star hotel. A great establishment and a great team, at a reasonable price (comparative to the area!). If we were to come back to sorrento, we wouldn’t hestitate to book again. ☺️

Hotel Florida was the perfect place to stay whilst attending my brothers wedding in Sorrento. The staff were very pleasant and made sure that me and my family had everything that we needed even welcoming our family and friends staying in other hotels to the hotel bar area. The hotel was very clean and modern and in a perfect location for walking into Sorrento!
The hotel is in lovely grounds surrounded by lemon and orange trees aswell as a large pool and plenty of sun loungers.
Would also highly recommend their driver Guilian who again could not be more helpful!
Thank you for making our stay so perfect - we will be back!
