A lovely hotel, very close to (but not on) the sea front. A very warm welcome when we arrived.
Room at the front of the hotel a good size. Bed very comfortable.
It appeared there were no English TV channels, but these were available on analogue.
Breakfast mostly cold, but nothing wrong with that!
Don't miss the patisserie nearby (turn right outside the hotel and walk 2/3 blocks) to Paolo Mantovani. Wonderful cakes and pastries, not to mention the excellent coffee.

We stayed in the tirrenia for 3 nights and had a wonderful stay. The family who run the hotel are always at hand and very accommodating to any request.
We stayed on a B & B rate and the sleep factor was very good as was the continental style breakfasts, the usual breads, fruit, cakes etc.
The hotel is in a narrow street of the main road that runs parallel with the resort promenade and a 300 metre walk to the nearest " beach club " called Bertoluccelli Beach. The hotel will offer a discount voucher which will save approx 10% on the price charged locally for the use of the beach facilities.
The hotel was a good base for us to visit the area as we cycled to Forte dei Marmi with bikes rented to us by the Tirrenia ( 3 euro for the morning each ) and the hotel is handy to both the train/bus stations for day trips to Pisa, Lucca etc.
If visiting viareggio again we would certainly stay in the Tirrenia.

Room Tip: Try to get a balcony room

The Tirriana is not on the beachfront, so if you're looking for sea views there are other more expensive and more glamorous hotels to choose from. That said, the Tirriana is a very good hotel at its price point. The rooms are quiet and you can make them dark so it's easy to sleep. We liked the breakfast and the staff are all very friendly.

Great location, close to shops, beach, train station and one of the best patisseries i have ever seen. We just walked in off the street to be greeted by Nonna who could not speak a word of English but it was like walking into her home in no time we had our room sorted and we were in. Everyone involved in this family run hotel were nothing but helpful advising us on restaurants, how to get to the train station and train timetable to Florence. Our room was clean and very modern, free internet and fridge in the room. I have no hesitation in recommending this charming family run hotel.

Excellent location close to sea front, restaurants and only few blocks from bus stop to Pisa Airport. Staff all very helpful and English is spoken. The decor is modern and very well maintained. Rooms good size, comfortable and spotlessly clean and we had a balcony which gave views down the street to the sea. There is a fridge and a safe in the room. Breakfast surpassed our expectations with fresh fruit, fruit juices, eggs and bacon, cheeses, lots of different breads etc. We would definitely go back and have no hesitation in recommending this wee gem of a hotel.

Lovely hotel with large clean rooms and bathrooms, close to the beach and great restaurants and the laundromat. The room itself had a fridge, so we could store water and lunch supplies (for our day trips). The staff - every single one we interacted with - was helpful and friendly with directions, restaurant recommendations and transportation assistance. The breakfast was outstanding. My only regret is that I had to miss two breakfasts due to catching early trains to Sienna and Florence! We thought it was a great seaside base for exploring parts of Tuscany and Cinque Terre. It was also very close to the grocery store, late night stores and the like.

One staff member recommended Seagull's for the fresh seafood, saying this is where her family goes for special family meals, and it was outstanding. The grandmother-like woman who checked us in recommended Sa Playa, and again we had another great meal. The pay beach, discounted for hotel guests, was nice (although the weather wasn't that great on that day).

I would stay here again in a heartbeat - only I'd stay in town more! Spring for the balcony rooms - it was lovely to have wine or liquor while relaxing on the balcony.

Room Tip: Spring for a room with a balcony.
