Hotel Mary

I think the hotels in the vicinity recommend Hotel Mary when they cannot accommodate guests. Such was the case with us. Since it is slightly off the main driving strip, a young man came to get us so we could follow him on his Vespa with our van. Hotel is right on the sidewalk; no parking so we left our vehicle to an attendant to park somewhere. When we arrived, we were assigned to a first floor room; upon opening the drapes I noted we were right in front of the swimming pool which we found somewhat noisy and no privacy whatsoever. Then the room had no air conditioning so I called the front desk and they found us a room with air conditioning. However, this room was at the front of the hotel with condo residences across the street. Room was clean; bed was comfortable as was the bathroom complete with shower. I could not get to sleep due to the constant noise from passing vehicles, motorcycles, and people. However, the very appealling breakfast made up for my sleepless night. Exceptional selection of cold cuts, cheeses, cereals, breads and rolls, fresh fruit, yogurt, and pastries. Better yet, we enjoyed this lavish spread on the balcony with the panoramic view of the Bay - can't get better than this. Staff was very accommodating, polite, and really pleasant.

Room Tip: If at all poslsible, request a room at the back of the hotel to avoid the street level noise!

We stayed here in October for 2 weeks. The rooms were basic. The views were great and the staff were wonderful.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the sea facing side.

Stayed for seven days as part of a Leger coach holiday to Sorrento etc. The views are great, overlooking the sea and the nearby harbour. The staff were very friendly and efficient, especially Luigi, Alfonso and Vincenzo. There was plenty of food, although the range could have been a bit more varied. However, it was fine for a week. The town cenre is only about five minutes walk away. If you fancy a laugh, sit at one of the tables outside a cafe on the roundabout in the centre of the town and watch the standard of driving and parking. No wonder lots of local cars have dents !

I would certainly include a return visit to the hotel for a future holiday.

Room Tip: Specify a sea view and a balcony.

Food was nice - they tried to keep to an English menu, which was very twee.
The rooms were lovely and clean.
The jacuzzi was lovely and cold.
Just a stroll up the hill (quite a steep hill, so take your time) and you're in the little village with bars and of course, you can watch everyone walk by as the quant Italian custom allows.
The staff were lovely and really helpfull. I've never met lovelier people....can't wait to go back.

Great location with easy access to public transport from here to Naples/ Pompeii, Sorrento, Capri etc. Fantastic views accross the bay of Naples. Friendly and helpful staff. Fantastic home-cooked food ... the best pasta I have ever had! Some noise at night from local dogs so bring ear plugs! Don't let that put you off though as it is a great place to stay.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view

This was our base hotel for touring Sorrento and Amalfi Coast. Great location just a little way out of Sorrento but walking distance from a small town with shops, cafes, banks etc. Very near railway station and short journey to Pompei and Naples. Fabulous views from the hotel over the bay of Naples and Mount Vesuvius. Very clean and comfortable rooms. Staff lovely and friendly. Food wonderful and very Italian - waiter service. Good buffet breakfast with lots of choice. This hotel was the icing on the cake for what turned out to be the most fabulous holiday.

We stayed in this hotel for four nights at the end of October and enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Mary very much. The hotel is a couple of minutes walk from the centre square of Vico Equense where there are shops, cafes and bars, but apart those there isnt very much in Vico Equense. We took the train to Sorrento one night which was 2.20 euros and about 5 minutes walk from the hotel. The hotel itself is located on a small clifftop with magnificent views over Vico Equense harbour and the bay of naples. The sunsets are spectacular. Vico Equense isnt very far from the main sights, pompeii is about 30 minues away and the Almafi coast is just a drive down the main road, however when we went the main road was closed so there was traffic along the coastal route, although the views were amazing.
The rooms are fairly large and very clean. The decor isnt the newest but will do for the time being and the beds are quite comfortable. The only sockets were under the beds though, which was quite annoying. Most rooms have a balcony overlooking the pool. Some rooms dont, but this is made up for by a jacuzzi bath! The bathrooms have a shower and are also very clean. We had both breakfast and dinner at the hotel. This is the only let down really, the food could be improved. At breakfast there isnt much choice, only a small table full of bread, cereal with warm milk, and some very diluted fruit juice. Dinner was slightly better and we had different dishes every day, mostly pasta and pizza. The staff are very friendly, although for some reason they didnt allow us to use the lifts but other guests were allowed to.
Overall a pleasant hotel in a great location with amazing views. Shame about the food.
