“A great hotel”
Reviewed 21 May 2012

This was our main hotel during our holiday to Italy. What a gem. From the outside quite plain looking but once you get to the rooms at the back the view takes your breath away. We had a lovely room on -3 floor which is on the patio area by the pool, ideal as you could pop in and out of your room when you needed a drink etc.
The room was cleaned to a high standard each day, in fact the whole hotel was spotless.
Breakfast was continental, but with plenty of choice. We had two choices for each course for our evening meal, the food was superb. Our thanks go to Mario and his staff for the brilliant service. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The young barman (Vincenzo) was an absolute joy and looked after us very well each evening. There is no bar area as such but there is a lovely balcony that runs along side the restaurant offering wonderful views of the sunset and the bay of Naples. Every member of staff at this hotel just wants you to have a good time. If you are looking for a hotel not far from Sorrento then pick this one. You will not be disappointed.

Room Tip: If you want peace and quiet ask for a room at back of hotel.

We stayed at Hotel Mary the last week of April 2012. We found the accomodation comfortable and clean. We had a room with a balcony and a view on the Bay of Naples. We were with a group and our breakfast and evening meals were included in the package. We found the breakfast to be copious and varied. The evening meals offered good choices including varied typical Italian dishes prepared to a high standard. The service under head waiter Mario's supervision was excellent from a very friendly and obliging team of waiters.
I would stay at Hotel Mary again.

Room Tip: Didn't use swimming pool facility. Easy walking access (15min approx) to train/bus station. Room...

The room in this hotel was fresh and clean. The bed was very comfy! The bathroom was clean, and there was a good shower. There was also a nice balcony, unfortunately we did not have a sea view though.
There was not free wifi, which was very annoying.
The breakfast was not very good, very limited choices. There was bread, pannetone, cereal, jams and these weird chocolate cake things in wrappers. There was hot chocolate which was nice, and two choices of juices. No fruit or yogurt.
The dinner was also a little disappointing.
I was on floor 1, and it was a bit noisy.
It was very close to the local town, a 4 minute walk - or even less. In the town there is a supermarket, Conad, which is quite hard to find, so ask someone. There are a few ice cream shops, and a few general shops.

This is a great base hotel, nice and friendly, clean, good food. We really enjoyed our time here we stayed for a week as part of our 14 day tour of Italy with consort Travel.
The village vico is wonderful and great food places, try the pizzas out standing.
This is a nice quiet romantic get away you will enjoy, great people and sight seeing amazing, beautiful weather when we went in August and the Villagers are charming.
You will not be dissappointed in the Hotel Mary, evening time is quiet no entertainment occassional music but it didnt spoil out time.
Didnt want to leave.

We stayed here over Christmas and New Year on a coach trip. A fabulous small hotel with fantastic views over the Bay of Naples. The only one complaint was that we were given far too much food. Superb meals and too tasty to refuse any courses. The staff could not be more helpful. Would definately stay there again.

Room Tip: All rooms I believe are as good as each other.

This was the main hotel for a Leger Holidays Christmas-New Year tour and was a very good choice. Situated on the side of a hill, most 'back' rooms looked out over the small harbour and the Bay of Naples. It occupies five floors, a very good restaurant and absolutely excellent staff. We spent Christmas Eve to New Year's Day there and felt very much at home during our stay.

The hotel staff are lovely and very helpful..There was nothing too much trouble for them. Service in the restaurant was quick, efficient and served with friendly smiles. Breakfast was extensive, covering anything anyone could possibly wish to eat. The evening meal featured five course, each one about as large as a normal meal at home. No one lost weight here! The one small niggle was the 'sameness' of some of the courses, with sometimes two pasta courses in the same meal. Other than that, everything was fine, including great attention to anyone with an allergy or preference for food.

The room was just about right, with a good view over the harbour and always clean, tidy and well-kept. The hotel management obviously have pride in their hotel and this is reflected across the staff. The room staff we saw were always polite and friendly. The corridors were clean and well-kept and the restaurant very well kept indeed. Christmas Day evening meal was conducted by candlelight, red candles with red place settings. New Year's Eve was all blue. There was music and dancing every night during our stay.

Vico Equense is a lovely little town with nice illuminations for this festive period. Everywhere is cobbled! Hotel Mary is about 10-15 minutes gentle stroll from the centre, just about right. There are many bars and restaurants, a good bus service and a train service to Sorrento and Naples. Whatever the distance, the fare was always Euro 1.20; excellent value.

All in all, this was a very nice stay. We would recommend Hotel Mary to anyone.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the small harbour and cliffs. Other rooms overlook the main road. Floors -1...

I had a large spacious bedroom with 3 beds for single occupancy. A balcony and windows facing the road, which did not spoil my enjoyment of my room for the duration of my one week's stay at the Hotel Mary The heating at New Year was not too hot and sometimes not enough but once snuggled into the bed fine. Other guests were commenting that their rooms were too hot! Hair dryer in the bathroom. Shower was powerful and the water hot. Shower cap not provided which is what I would expect from a 3 star Hotel. Staff at the Hotel welcoming and all spoke good English. House wine with dinner was 7 Euros and a Vodka Tonic 4.50 Euros. The food at breakfast was varied as was the delicious 5 course meal in the evening. Hotel Mary is positioned well for access for the town and is positioned above a local beach accessed from walking down steps. The sea was warm enough for a swim for those who were brave at heart. I was sad to leave this delightful Hotel.
