The cala caterina hotel is located in an extremely pleasant location in Villasimius on beautiful grounds meticulosly mantained (well done to the gardner), with access to a small but crowded beach in season, that feels rather different from the pictures shown on the website. As for the restaurant, mediocre ar best, and after a few days better to look elsewhere as the food is barely tolerable. The hotel staff is helpful, especially in the bar area although inconsistent in other parts of the property. The beach staff leaves for a few hours for lunch which leaves the beach area unattended. In conclusion, nice location, rooms are ok, showers are dismal, and much opportunity for significant improvement in the food and beverage area.

We stayed in one of the junior suits, which was perfect for a family of 4. (2 small children). The beach linked to the hotel is quite small, but was sufficient for us. The hotel also provides a private lounging area just above the beach. Both the lunchtime menue and dinner menu provided a varied choice and the quality of the food was excellent.

What made our holiday stay here so fantastic were the staff. They were efficient, friendly and went out of their way to deliver excellent service. Marco, at the pool terrace, in particular was our favourite, but in all honesty all the staff were just lovely.

If you are looking for something smaller and more intimate than the big modern hotels, somewhere with charm and a warm friendly atmosphere - this is your place.

We stayed for 7 nights in June 2017. Worried before we went about mixed reviews but found concerns of the rooms looking tired to be unfounded. Hotel is wonderful, relaxing and clean. Rooms are a good size and the grounds are very well maintained.

Staff could not have been more helpful and welcoming.

This is not an adult only hotel, but there were only two small children there during our visit and it is a perfect hotel for couples looking for a quiet and relaxing break.

Room Tip: Higher floors with a balcony are best

Hotel is situated very closely to a wonderful, clean, private beach with cristalclear water! For this they get 5 stars! Staff in the hotel is extremely friendly and very helpful. Everyone smiles at you and greets you even if it's "only" the gardener. Breakfast buffet is good, not excellent but good. Rooms are ok, some of them are a bit dark, due to its architecture of the facility/building. We stayed at more modern hotels in Sardinia, but the owner really tries hard to keep it on a good level. As we did not eat lunch or dinner we cannot judge the kitchen. Guests are mixed from all over the world. Germans, English, Swiss, but also Italian and French. A very pleasant stay for couples, young or elderly. Also for families with smalll kids ideal. If you want "action" and love animation this is not the place for you to stay. Book yourself a rental car to reach the nearest town or take the shuttle bus very close to the hotel which leaves every hour.

Room Tip: Do not book the "cheapest" rooms.

After 4 nights here we were fully re charged and ready for the rest of our trip! It is unusual for us to want to spend a whole day in one place....here it is easy to do!
This place is exactly what you'd expect from a higher end Sardinian retreat and then some.
The grounds are beautiful and very well manicured with a delightful stroll to the beach past the stunning swimming pool, through a copse of pine trees that takes you by a number of shady nooks with sun beds beneath their pergolas and double sized hammocks swaying gently in the warm breeze.
The beach is small but perfectly formed within the larger bay. It's got just enough sand to make getting in and out easy. Plenty of sun beds to go round. It is not a 'private' beach as such but because Cala Caterina is a bit 'out of the way', it never felt over crowded. Life guard Diego is very helpful.
Lunch by the pool was always excellent as was dinner for the most part. Friday night is fish night.....amazing variety and quality.
The staff are top notch; helpful, polite, clearly well trained, and very professional.
Evening entertainment was of the highest standard. This hotel seems to be a 'must do gig' for some seriously good musicians!
Whilst the rooms are perfectly adequate, most with lovely balconies or garden terraces, they are beginning to show their age a bit by modern standards. Beware that the car park is public. We did have trouble finding a space now and then.
The bustling tourist town of Villasimius is only 10 minutes drive away as are a number of truly stunning beaches. The marina is just 5 minutes.
We will definitely return.
