Stayed for one night last week. Location is beautiful - postcard Tuscan rolling hills. Sat outside for a pre-dinner with a fabulous local wine looking out at the sunset.
Great dinner in the restaurant -Tuscan traditional dishes including wild boar.

Ok let me start by saying my title is my overall view of the hotel, WoW.
This isn't a Ritz-Carlton in the countryside of Italy but my goodness was it just a really cool authentic place.
Let's hit the list real quick.
Views - so so good.
WiFi - usable, could be better but I was able to view sites and read without headache. Don't plan on streaming videos or uploading lots of photos. You may slow down the entire network.
The room - I really liked it. We had Room 11, it was like having your own little cottage. The room itself was spacious, 1 large queen/king ish sized bed and two other separate twin beds. A table in the room with 4 chairs, TV, standing closet, all the necessities with a nice authentic Italian tuscan "feel" to it.
The bathroom was spacious and the shower on the small side but accommodating.

The views, the quiet sounds and the overall "get away from the city I want a small Italian hotel feel" this place nails it.

Just returned from a three night stay at Il Palagetto and I can honestly say we were very happy with our choice.

From checking in we were greeted with a warm welcome from staff and were given two rooms both with excellent views and an outdoor table and chairs to sit at which was a nice touch.

The pool is brilliant and of a very good size for all guests to enjoy, my only criticism is that a few chairs were broken and perhaps there should be more.

We opted to eat at the restaurant every night not for ease but just because we had enjoyed the food and wine every night we were there. The rustic Tuscan food was all locally sourced and presented in true Tuscan style.

Overall, we were very happy with our stay here and have all said we will return in the future.

Stayed at this bed and breakfast for 3 nights whilst going to see Andre Boccelli. The welcome was "ok".
Then got to the room encountered it had no iron or ironing board. Went to speak with the hotel owner who was on reception
She was very rude and said "wait until the morning" although I wanted it that evening to iron for that evening.

Anyway that's nothing, we needed to get to the concert so we tried to sort a taxi, she arranged for us and told us she had sorted it it for 40 euros PER PERSON to travel 8 miles there and 8 miles back. This came to 120 euros. We had to book it as in the middle of no where.
On the night I asked her at 6 pm as arranged "can you tell me where I go for transfers please" well if I did, I had the finger pointing telling me to wait then she walked off leaving me panicking thinking I was going to miss the show.
She then came back with an angry face and said DO NO STRESS ME OUT THESE EVENING. haha at this point she was red in the face and angry. I couldn't believe it I only asked where I go for the bloody transfers. Low and be hold she was the driver who had charged all this money, we were led to believe it was an external company.

The food is crap!

The staff are rude!!!!!!!!

On the way in my 120 euro 16 km trip she apologised the way she spoke to me , her reason was she was angry at the customers before because they booked the wrong room.
That is not my issue.

Apology NOT ACCEPTED you ruined my trip and spoilt my evening for which I came for and that was to see Andrea Boccelli.

Will I return? MOST CERTAINLY NOT TO THAT DUMP!!!!!!!!!!!!

We were very sorry to read this negative assessment of the service we provide at Il Palagetto.
We are a family run ‘agriturismo’ technically a ‘farmstay’ and not a luxury hotel with a large staff.
We pride ourselves on delivering a friendly, homely setting for people who enjoy being in the calm of the countryside.
As everyone knows, there are 2 sides to everything and this is our account of what happened during your stay:
THE IRON INCIDENT it is true that we haven’t irons in the rooms, but guests are welcome to use the iron in the laundry. When this guest came on the first evening and asked for an iron, the laundry was closed so I asked if the shirts needed ironing for the concert in 3 days’ time to which he replied yes.
I suggested he return with the shirts in the morning to use the laundry. At 7 20 the following morning he came back. The laundry wasn’t yet open, but upon his insistence, the girl, who makes the coffee, fetched an iron for him and he took it to his room.
When the cleaning lady entered his room she removed it because she thought he had finished with it.
The day of the concert he brought the shirts to reception and then ironed them in the laundry.

THE TRANSPORT TO THE CONCERT. Normally guests book private transport to the Andrea Bocelli’s concert in February when they book the room but these guests expected me to find a private transfer the night before the concert. The cost would have been 370,00 euro or 470,00 euro (depending on the car). This charge includes waiting time which can be 7 hours. I have an email to prove this.
I also checked bus fares. One company in Volterra charges 35.00 euro return, the other 40.00 euro. To catch the bus they would have had to travel 5 km in their own car to the bus stop. They didn’t want this, but insisting on a private transfer.
370 euro seemed excessive to me so in order to help them out we decided to take them ourselves and charged 40 euro per person which covered waiting time of six hours at the bus shuttle at La Sterza . Unofficial private cars are not allowed on the Teatro del Silenzio site. Since this for us was an unplanned commitment, and we had to go to Livorno beforehand, we arranged to pick them up at 6pm.
At 5.30 they were already at reception demanding to know where their transfer was. They were showing their impatience and I did say “Please be calm and don’t stress me out!” (my English is not brilliant) I had to make a phone call for someone to bring me my car keys.
As soon as they arrived we set out. I don’t think they understood that we were doing this to help them out as we would any guest. We did not think 40 euro was excessive as we had had to cancel our plans for the entire evening in order to accommodate them.

Our concern, as always, for the well being of our loyal guests and we are sorry, if in this instance, our intentions were misunderstood or misinterpreted.
PS. I got an English friend to translate this response for me.

We have spent 2 nights in October.

The place is well located to visit near by town such as Volterra. It has a 360 degrees nice view.

Service was perfect on all points of view, they are accommodating customers requests very efficiently

The restaurant offers a nice short menu but with diversified dishes and accompanied with a nice Wine list. I recommend the house wine
Breakfast is rather basic but good, my only regret that there was a coffee machine and wished for a freshly brewed one.

We had a suit room which was big and more for a family with a nice bathroom, with good hot water and water pressure (not always the case even in higher rated hotel), a suggestion would to improve a bit the shower head and shower curtain . The bed was big enough and the 2 mattresses covered with a tempur type of thin mattress which made our sleep perfect

Also please note that it is located in the country side which means it has local insects, not à problems for us but could be for those who are used to only city life

A place I would recommend and definitely would stay again
