What a view, is the 1st impression, just incredible, Little Barrier, Great Barrier and Coromandel, so stunning. The rooms are so retro and cool, ala 1960s New Zealand upcooled. Man, it was only 10 minute or so up from Matakana. The people that run it are just lovley too, Leigh Eats is a stroll down the road who do great coffee, we also loved the Burgers and Fish & Chips. We defiantly visit Leigh Central again.

Room Tip: All the rooms have the best view.

We came for a quick stop over one night and stayed three. What a great find. Spacious and clean. Free wifi and clean water with an ocean view. The place is under a bit of construction so the bathrooms are a short walk away but it's totally worth it. If there were hot showers on site I'm pretty sure they wouldn't have ever gotten rid of us. Ian and his wife were more than welcoming. They even gave us access to their personal common area so we could sit and have dinner at a table rather than in our van. It was a nice treat for us after 5 weeks on the road. We highly recommend their property.

Hello - and thanks for your review. We are so glad you enjoyed your time here. However, to avoid any confusion, we do need to point out that your review refers to our on site short stay Motorhome park - NOT the Leigh Central Coastels - which this TA listing is actually home to! Our Coastels are fully equipped Motel rooms - no need to walk far to the toilets :) Thanks.

My hubby, young son and I were caught up in the cyclone/bad weather the last week so almost everything was shut in the area. However, I must say that our experience was still made highly positive owing to this wonderful accommodation venue. Getting there in bad weather late evening, we were welcomed by a lighted and warm room ('Sand'). Everything was nice and clean and the place was fully equipped with lovely little touches. I would not hesitate to recommend this venue to our friends & family! By the way, I am in love with their bed quilt and if they could respond and tell me where to get it, it would be most appreciated :)

Hello - and thanks so much for your review. Glad our place helped to mitigate the bad weather somewhat! The Quilt in your room came from well known 'always on sale' national homeware chain starting with Br.......! Cheers.

What a great place to stay. Beautifully decorated and really functional and comfortable. Our family of 3 stayed for one night. Being centrally located the the goat island scenic reserve was super handy too. Thanks for building and designing a lovely place.

Thank you so much for your review. It is just so special to have guests who enjoy our space - and while it has been hard work ( and fun) to get this far - it's all worth it when others enjoy it too! Thanks again! :)

The owners have done an excellent job, the coastels are clean, modern and beautifully decorated. One of the nicest motels we've ever stayed in. I especially appreciated all the little extra things there, like a jar of cookies, olive oil and paper towels. Can't ask for much more.

Mum, Dad & daughter (9) heading to Goat Island for snorkelling and a weekend away from the big smoke. Leigh Central met our needs perfectly. We stayed in "Splash" (unit 4) putting our daughter to sleep in the bedroom then transferring her to the sofa-bed when we headed to bed later. The room was colourfully and tastefully decorated with everything we needed. The only downside was some noise did transfer between rooms but the plus-side was the beautiful matai flooring.
Location in the centre of Leigh is great. We enjoyed dinner from neighbouring Leigh Eats (takeaway or eat in) and also a walk along the coastal walkway.
Thanks to friends who warned us that the Goat Island campsite has gone so far downhill.

Thank you for your kind review. We are delighted you enjoyed your mini breakaway in Leigh.
Yes, the original matai floorboards are indeed lovely, and were a happy discovery when we began our renovations! However, as we have mentioned in our room info, the only drawback is that it does mean the rooms share a common floor profile. Although we have done everything possible to soundproof the walls, very heavy footfall may sometimes transfer from neighbouring rooms. I hope this did not inconvenience you too much - and that on balance, the beauty of the boards was enough to warrant our decision to keep them.
Thanks again.
