I was attending a 3 day course at the nearby School of Artisan Food and wanted somewhere close to the campus. I didn't realize it at the time but this is the only B&B within walking distance! A lovely walk along country paths and lanes. I did it in winter and I can only imagine how lovely the walk must be in the summer months. Otherwise its a 2 minute drive to the school gates.
I stayed in room 1 which was beautifully furnished and had everything I needed - right down to a torch and umbrella for the dark nights! I am a very light sleeper but the location is well away from the busy roads and I didn't hear a thing. The room has great heating so the cold winter weather posed no problem.
The breakfast was fabulous - the breads, fruits and meats are all locally sourced and the very best quality. I had the cooked "English" breakfast everyday and the bacon & sausages where cooked to perfection. You will not leave here hungry!!
If this wasn't enough - the hosts!! Both Joan and her husband go to extraordinary lengths to make sure you have a comfortable stay, nothing is too much trouble. The care and attention to detail is reflected in the high level of service they provide. One night it was raining and as I left school - Joan's husband was waiting for me in a car as they where worried I would get wet if I walked back to Browns - now that really is service!!
I stayed in Room 1 and was lucky enough to check out the other 2 guest rooms during my stay. Both are beautiful and finished to a very high standard.
I attended the school last year and stayed at another nearby property, but will only consider Browns for future visits.
