Had lunch at La Taverne with 3 kids. Service is pleasant and efficient. Extensive menu with options to please everyone - but very meat / pork / cheese heavy - to enjoy with a glass of gewurtztraminer or crémant. The appetizer salads or the quiche lorraine and salad are good options if you are looking for a slightly lighter lunch. The kid menu has smaller portions of local specialties (quiche Lorraine, spaetzle...). Everything was well prepared although a bit bland.

Price to value is spot on. La carte or fixed menu’ available. Lots of local wine selections. Plenty of parking on the side near the river. Super friendly staff. Light airy decor. Just lovely.

Very nice restaurant, friendly staff and you can take your dog along with you :-)
The coq au vin is prepared with white wine. The meat is very tender and you should drink it with an Alsace wine to complete the whole picture.
To get into the restaurant, you need to get down a couple of steps, so it is not wheelchair accessible.

The chef doubled his duty and served our table. He spoke several languages (including Russian) which amazed me. He patiently explained and described the Alsatian local cuisine to us and recommended a few things. The food did not disappoint. The wine came in local clay pot, which was neat, and my blueberry sorbet and vanilla ice cream "sundae" came in a glass shell. If it's not too hot, sit outside -- you see the stork nest sitting on top of the chimney across the street above the stork cafe. Great place to feel welcomed.

This "tavern" looked inviting from the street and, based on the menu, exactly what we were after: a cosy restaurant featuring local cuisine. We were not disappointed. The food (choucroute royale [sauerkraut with sausages] and magret de canard aux framboise [duck with raspberry]) was excellent. The server was very pleasant. Prices were reasonable for three course meals (under 60 Euros for two).
