We’ve stayed here before and knew what to expect. Meurice is a quirky small hotel near the ports and beach in Calais.

Communal areas are really nice with opulent fittings and a cosy bar area. The Roos we had was very tired though and tiny, barely room to move around the bed and a weird toilet in its own, windowless cupboard.

Location is good & staff all friendly, not top of my list but happy to stay again for convenience

Dear Masboutin.

We appreciate that you took the time to share your experience with us.

Thank you for highlighting how close our hotel is to the beach and ports.

We are sorry that your room did not completely meet your expectations and regret that you had not made us aware during your stay as our team would have been happy to assist you in finding a room that better suited your needs.

Also, as your opinion is important to us, we have noted your feedback in regards to our toilet area.

Nevertheless, we are happy to hear that you received friendly and courteous service.

I hope that we may be able to see you on a future occasion.

My best regards,

Thierry Hédoin, Manager

Stayed here one night on our way home.
The hotel was destroyed in WW2 and rebuilt but in a retro style in the 50s. Lots of vintage furniture fantastic entrance hall and staircase. Our room had a very large and comfortable bed with luxurious monogrammed linen. I would describe the decor as old fashioned French bordering on shabby chic which to me is charming but may not appeal to everyone. The ensuite had two doors from the room not sure why and a separate toilet in the lobby part of the room. It was clean and had a powerful shower. Fittings were quite old and some tiles damaged.
Good selection for breakfast including cooked food and cake. The dining room is huge with a high ceiling and fabulous glass chandeliers.
Staff were helpful, attentive and friendly.
Secure parking available.
Hotel is in a good position for walking into Calais for a meal/look round and also near a park and the beach. I will definitely stay there next time I am in Calais

Stayed at this hotel on our last night in France as it is a 15 minute drive from ferry terminal. The hotel has an elegant reception area and the bedrooms are large and attractively decorated. We had a huge wetroom which would have been suitable for the elderly or the disabled. The hotel has a pleasant garden nice for relaxing after a day sightseeing. There is a secure underground car park which you can use for 10 euros per night but I wouldn’t bother as there are plenty of spaces outside the hotel.
The location of the hotel is excellent as it is close to many restaurants and a lovely square where the local tapas bar gives free salsa lessons. Hotel was busy so book early if possible. Didn’t eat in hotel so cannot comment on food

This is our second visit to the hotel and I would always chose to stay here rather than one of the other rectangular cuboid choices available. They have made some changes since our last visit which have much improved the bar area, although I am not sure if they have lost some of the lovely old furniture in the dining area. The whole experience is lovely, from walking into the amazing reception area with its grand sweeping staircase through to the beautifully decorated bedrooms. My only regret is that we did not pay the extra for a superior room, so I could have swept up and down the staircase...next time!

We have stayed here before mainly because it is very convenient for the Tunnel. Since our last visit there have been distinct upgrades in bed quality, cleanliness and and breakfast quality. When I parked the car in the basement garage I noticed a large pile of double glazing units so work is progressing there too. We particularly like the hotel for the Art Deco feel and the impressive sweeping staircase and the pre-war feel.
While the man whom we paid when lweaving was helpful and charming the women we met on arrival was off hand and made us feel distinctly unwelcome. It took us some time to get over this episode and regain our favourable view of the hotel. Perhaps some more staff training would be helpful.

Room tip: Rooms on South side have views of the park but will be sunny and hotter in summer.
