Spent a rainy afternoon visiting this museum of old commercial shops and establishments from the early 1900s France.. Everything is set out well and information is in English as well as French. The detail in each of the displays is exceptional and suitable for all ages. I recommend this museum to all.

This museum really gives the visitor a sense of France's recent past covering many important categories of life: education, food, employment, child rearing, religion. A visit teaches one as much about France's present as it does its recent past. Go and enjoy.

This contains recreations of 15 or so shops and businesses from the early 1900's and is set out over 3 floors of an old industrial building in the centre of Rochefort. The descriptions on te exhibits are in English as well as French, and there is also a very good audio guide. It is a great place to spend an hour or so, and would be suitable for all ages.

Visited for the second time (after a few years!) as it is the perfect place to take anyone who is "getting on in years" and looking for a bit of nostalgia. My mother (Alzheimers) loved it. It is much better now they have installed a lift and translated notices into English. As with most sites in France it closes for lunch so check times before you go.
A great way to spend a couple of hours in Rochefort, especially when it's raining!
