“Excellent location and chalet for a relaxing all age family ski holiday.”
Reviewed 4 April 2015 for a stay in April 2015

We booked Chalet Ruby as it was the right size for our group of 14 and provided easy access to the slopes, and was good value for money. The email communications we had with the owner were prompt and any advice given was helpful - ski school, lift passes etc. In retrospect we should have asked directions to the chalet from where the bus transport dropped us, but were fortunately rescued by Harvey who happened to be passing!
The bedrooms and bathrooms are basic but provide all the essentials for a skiing holiday and the dining / lounge area was a relaxing space for both children and adults. Mark and Harvey were good hosts and we enjoyed their company without it being intrusive into our family gathering. The food deserves a special mention - Mark's skills as a chef kept us very well fed throughout the week with the option of a cooked breakfast, good food for children's tea and excellent three course dinners for the adults. Knowing that Mark was going to knock on the bedroom doors on the last morning at 5.00am was reassuring and the freshly cooked croissants and pain au chocolats to take with us were most welcome. All in all an excellent venue and just what we hoped for.

“Super chalet , friendly, fab food and great ski resort”

Chalet Ruby is a super choice for a relaxed ski holiday.

Mark and Harvey were wonderful hosts, nothing was too much trouble for them. Mark is a fabulous chef , he provided a cooked breakfast with fresh croissants and pain-au-chocolats each morning, flapjacks and cakes to bring up the mountain and a wonderful 3 course dinner each evening, the highlights were the chicken and mushroom pie and the delicious roast lamb dinner on the last evening . Mark was very accommodating with the kids, cooking them dinner at 6.30 each evening , they spent the rest of the night watching movies on the TV ( they have google chrome cast so you can stream movies from your net flicks account) while we enjoyed dinner and plenty of wine!

Both mark and Harvey had plenty of local knowledge and tips which is great when visiting a resort for the first time.
The chalet was perfect for our group of children and adults, the rooms simple but warm and comfortable and although the bathrooms are small, as previously noted, the never ending supply of hot water and excellent water pressure compensated. The living room has plenty of sofas and the wood burning stove kept it warm and cosy.

The hot tub deserves a paragraph all to itself - what bliss after a day on the slopes ! It was the children's favourite bit of the holiday!

Les Deux-Alpes is an excellent resort with loads of family friendly blue runs high in the glacial area so you are guaranteed snow -and the town itself is buzzy with plenty of bars, restaurants and shops to keep you entertained.

All highly recommended

“Excellent value for money”
Reviewed 13 March 2015 for a stay in March 2015

Mark and Harvey were excellent hosts for our stay ,the food was varied and interesting nothing was too much trouble and peoples individual needs and requirements were all catered for.
The hot tub at the end of the day was a very welcome sight ,and gave aching limbs a chance to recover.
Having skied quite a lot in different resorts it was nice to have a boot dryer that actually worked it was much easier putting the boots on the next morning when they were warm and dry.
We were blessed with glorious weather which always helps ,but the resort will benefit from the planned red/blue piste which will bring skiers back to the middle of the resort . My bed was very comfortable and although the decor in the chalet is basic ,I go for the skiing and the food which can't be faulted at all.
The Alisier restaurant two doors up the street was an excellent recommendation from Mark and Harvey the oysters and steak were excellent ,and the carpaccio and prawn starter also looked good.
In summary this is a chalet that definitely ticks a lot of boxes.

“Absolutely fabulous”
Reviewed 4 March 2015 for a stay in February 2015

This was my first skiing holiday and the first time I'd used a catered chalet. Mark and Harvey were great hosts and nothing was too much trouble for them. They both made us all feel very welcome and helped with where to find things in the resort etc.
The food was fabulous, there is no way you could go hungry and I think we all but a few pounds on :) All the food is cooked from scratch with fresh ingredients. Mark truly is an amazing cook!!
The chalet is very close to a bus stop for the free bus to get you round the resort plus it's only 10 min walk away from one of the main chairlifts, The Diable. They supply a heated boot rack which is great for getting your boots dry and toasty for the next day.
The chalet rooms are warm and cosy plus the communal living room is comfy too.
If I were to return to Les a Deux Alps I'd certainly stay here again as I don't believe any other Chalet could possibly be better.

“Exceptional full service chalet”

Chalet Ruby is a case study in hospitality at it's very best.

Host/chef/co-owner Mark is the consummate professional, we felt completely welcome from our arrival and no request was too big or too small for him. A professional chef, we were very well fed, from confit duck to roast lamb, homemade bread and creamy soups, plenty of green vegetables (often a rarity in ski resorts!) and some artery defying desserts, as well as seemingly limitless wine.

The chalet was conveniently located for the Diable ski lift, ski hire, bars and restaurants. The room was lovely, clean, warm, and had plenty of space. There's a big comfy sitting room with an open fire, and the whole chalet is nice and warm.

In addition to all this, the whole stay was extremely good value for money - you get a lot more than you pay for. I can't recommend Chalet Ruby highly enough - if you're going to Les Deux Alpes, this is where you should stay.

“Fabulous stay at Chalet Ruby during Feb Half term”

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Chalet Ruby - food cooked by Mark was plentiful and absolutely delicious. We found Mark to be exceptionally flexible in his approach to feeding the chalet and nothing was too much trouble. I think it is fairly typical to have cakes in the afternoon when you come back from skiing but Mark also made flapjacks and cookies to take up on the mountains with us - which was just superb!
The hot tub was a bonus to come back to and there was always plenty of hot water and the chalet was lovely and warm.
It's in a great location - very close to the ski rental shop (go to Schuss Twinner Sports) and to the lifts. You can leave your skis and boots in the boot room but we found it even easier to leave them at Twinner as it is even closer than the chalet to the lifts.
Unfortunately Harvey injured his shoulder during our stay but our son thought this was a very cool injury, given that he had acquired it whilst attempting a jump but also because it meant that he got more time to play on his Fifa game with Harvey! I should add that the wifi is good in the chalet.
All in all, a great trip and a lovely chalet. If I had to be critical - the only thing that I would say is that the bathrooms are quite pokey and I'd love to have had a bath. That said, you can't have it all!!
Thank you again Mark and Harvey - you are great hosts!
