A special reminiscent family trip to Suffolk, our family county for generations, acompanied with the two youngest Grandsons who were SO excited to have their own delightful room with a TV !!! We were all very comfortable, the breakfast was excellent in the pretty dining room, thank you for a memorable visit, highly recommended..

One night was enough in the hayloft,as no one else was staying we thought we’d be in the four poster bed, overpriced, no luxury, the mattress was hanging over the bed, antiquated furniture with an old church pew as a headboard, breakfast was just ok, no yogurts or choice of fruit juice, check out Cadson Manor in Cornwall for the same price, or Lower Farm at Barnwell in Northamptonshire for real value for money, both fantastic places to stay

My wife and I stayed 4 wonderful nights in the Squires Room, We found it very clean and charming. The 4 poster bed was very comfortable and the en suite bathroom had a large shower with plenty of hot water. The location was very quiet and had plenty of parking space. Liz and John were both very friendly and attentive and the level of service exceeded our expectations. Breakfast included plenty of choice - fruit, cereals and any variant of a traditional 'full English' - all served with great efficiency. The comment by another reviewer that there was no choice of eggs is completely wrong. Whilst we were there, we heard other guests request alternatives to fried eggs and they were promptly supplied without any problem at all. Perhaps they forgot to ask !!!

Our only slight problem was that we booked via Booking.com who made a mess of taking payment. This was sorted very efficiently by Liz. In future, we will simply book direct with Colston Hall.

Room tip: The access to the Squires room is via narrow, steep stairs but there are many more room options available.

We were visiting the area for my relatives funeral. We decided to make an overnight stay to avoid the heat and the traffic on the notorious A14. This location was just perfect. We were met by our host Liz and little Elliot and shown to our lovely cool room - The Loose Box. We would normally share a double but under the circumstances a twin was more comfortable due to the heat!
After a good nights sleep we enjoyed a lovely cooked breakfast served in a nice dining room and served by John the husband of Liz. We wanted for nothing, everything even the home made marmalade was excellent. We were very grateful for the kind offer should we have needed to use the very attractive lounge. There were plenty of information on the area available both in our room and in the house. A large map on the wall was also useful. Certainly recommend this B&B for quality, comfort and affordability.

We stayed for two nights in the Squires Room with its lovely and very comfortable four poster bed. It was a real find as the Hall is set in the amazing countryside of rural Suffolk.
The breakfast room was a true delight with fresh flowers and the decor was excellent. The breakfast was excellent with a wide variety of cereals on offer, fresh fruit which was different each morning and a very well cooked and presented cooked breakfast. The bread was excellent and very surprisingly each table had its own toaster.
