The Klimperkasten was closed for a short while and is now reopened after a total renovation. It re-opened on July 5th and the former staff from the now closed Schwarze Katze has taken over the operations at Klimperkasten.
I stopped by for a beverage and to check out the new place. There is an ‘L’ shaped bar with stools and a split level seating area in the rest of the bar. There are huge windows facing the street and I observed some patrons sitting on the window ledge enjoying their beverage and watching the traffic go by. The brown tile decorations in the bathroom area are pretty nice. In the main room there is brown ceiling tiles and a disco ball.
The drink menu consists of various beers on tap, cocktails, bottled beers, wine, non-alcoholic beverages, juices, hot drinks, malts, liquors, rums and more. The waiters will serve you at your table unlike some of the other self-serve bars around town. They do offer some small snacks (chips, pretzels, etc..) costing around €1.50, which was offered free to the drink paying customers at the old Schwarze Katze.
Nice atmosphere and great for conversation
