We've visited Esslibris already for the fourth time and it is always a great experience! I always order the romantic 5 course menu without knowing what is on it. I don't need to know, because everything what comes out of this kitchen taste outstanding.

Okay you need to be open and curious to try new things!

The staff is extremely friendly, helpful and very attentively.

This restaurant is one of my top favourite!

I really recommend to book a table in advance!

Thank BerryvanD

This is a restaurant for enjoying a memorable meal and it does not matter if it is a special occasion because the food makes it special. You should reserve a table no matter the size of your party especially as the weather turns warmer and the beautiful setting and hotel draw the usual crowds.
The Chef here is very creative and served a goose liver ice cream and goose liver creme brulee which were fabulously delicious and decadent. This was part of one of the first courses and the other one featured smoked mussels and tomato foam, another delight. The lamb offered as a main course was a rack divided into chops after being cooked rare, served in a rich, dark, slightly sweet sauce. The meat was from a special kind of lamb raised near salt water. The vegetables served with this were also perfectly cooked and flavorful.
The duck breast is a thick cut and the fat was perfectly rendered leaving a very thin crust on top. Both green and white asparagus tips were served with this adding a fresh seasonal touch.
The cheese plate is six small wedges of various cheeses; both soft and hard and comes with a lovely scattering of green seedless grapes and a red grape jelly made in-house without a doubt. The chocolate dessert was a luscious 2 layers of light and dark chocolate enclosed in a dark chocolate shell with a touch of gold leaf and a tiny sprig of fresh mint.
The only faux pas in the entire meal was having to ask for steak knives with which to cut our meat. The meat was not at all tough but rather was too thick for any other knives to handle with ease. The duck breast was not served in the usual thin slices but as two chunks of meat. Other than this the service was excellent and as one might expect in a restaurant of this caliber.
The wine list is impressive and many exquisite vintages are offered.
The décor was nicely done with the exception of hideous curtains or drapes in a sun-
faded plaid that really should be replaced to improve the overall setting for such beautiful food.

Good restaurant with tasty food! It's a mix of German food with French notes. Good for lunch.
Good service and beautiful places around.

We had a lunch here with my kids and the grand parents.
Very good food, quite healthy portions, good selection of open wines, friendly service.
The price level is at the upper end for this region though but worth it.

I particularly liked that through the huge windows we could watch the kids run around outside while we were eating our main dish.
The waiter bought the kids meals right with the startes, well time. Kids were fed, ran around outside and we could enjoy our steaks.

The restaurant Esslibris in the Landschloss Fasanerie has the potential to earn a star in the Michelin Guide (and not only a Bib Gourmand) when it comes to the atmosphere of the dining room and the quality of its cuisine. I guess it is a conscious choice to sacrifice some expensive service features that would be required for that, instead keeping the prices at very reasonable levels, both food and wine. However, I did not appreciate that the dessert wine that we ordered blindly (pages missing in the menu) was twice the amount of the other wines served by the glass.
