We spent a wonderful 7 nights in this apartment & Dieter & Ellen could not have been more helpful. Communication prior to our stay was brilliant to the point of them offering to get us some groceries in as we were arriving on a Sunday, when most of the shops are closed. The apartment has its own parking space & is spacious with two double bedrooms, a large bathroom with washing machine & ultra modern fittings & a large living room. The kitchenette is small but has everything you need for when you decide to dine in. The property has a terrace immediately outside the door & we enjoyed sitting outside most evenings with a glass of wine & our kindles. It was so warm & the area is very quiet. So peaceful. Our bed was very comfortable & both beds are identical, so it wouldn't matter which room you slept in.
Location is at the top of a hill & each day as we drove down into St Goar, the view of the Rhine was so beautiful. The one thing that I would advise, is the need for a car as it is quite a trek down into St Goar & the hill is very steep.
St Goar itself is quite small, consisting mainly of one small street of shops & street cafes & restraunts, but it is situated right on the river with the boats travelling up & down it all day & is not very far from lots of the other towns which run along the Rhine, so is a great base.
There is also a wine tasting & Christmas shop which is well reviewed, however we didn't venture inside, despite me really wanting to, as my husband was determined he wasn't going to be doing any wine tasting, so I thought it was perhaps better if we didn't. go in.
All in all, we had a lovely time & can definitely recommend both the town & accommodation & also Ellen & Dieter, who even left a message outside our front door, welcoming us! How lovely is that?
