My two night stay at Ernsing's confirmed and amplified Trip Advisor's high ratings and reviews. As a foreigner with no local mobile phone number on which to receive an SMS from their ISP to activate an internet connection, I could have been without internet. Dirk accommodated me in every way, setting me up with two internet accounts and moving me to a balcony room close to one of their routers. (They have one on each floor.) The breakfast room is attractive and breakfast was excellent. The room more than met my expectations. The view from the room and balcony over Telegrafenstrasse and across the Ahr to the Neuenahr Berg was wonderful. Although Ernsing's has their own parking, I ended up parking in the public lot behind the hotel for the ease of getting in and out. Ernsing's is located a few steps from the river walk and Poststrasse, the pedestrian shopping street. There is no better location and I can't imagine that there is a better deal in Bad Neuenahr.

We found this hotel through tripadvisor and didn't regret it. The location is right in the center of the town, about 5 mins walk to the hot springs. The staff is very nice. The room we stayed in (No. 7) is large and we just love the bed and the sheets! Very comfortable, soft and cuddly :-) Breakfast is ok. The only comment I would have is the small bathroom with brown tiles (gives it very old look) but the shower is one of the best we had in the last couple of weeks. Very hot and lot of water! They also have free WIFI and the outside blinds, so if you close them, you don't get a single hint of daylight. Loving that!

Very nice family run hotel in Bad Neuenahr, ten minute walk from the train station, five minute walk from the spa (Ahr Therme) and five minute walk from the red wine hiking trail (Rotweinwanderweg). The staff were very friendly and helpful, they gave us a map and told us where we could hire bikes as well as which parts of the wine trail are the best. The room was very large and spotlessly clean with flatscreen tv, small balcony and the beds were unbelievably comfortable. It's only a small place so there's no minibar or tea making facilities in the rooms but the latter is pretty normal for hotels in Germany anyway. The continental breakfast buffet was delicious and varied. There is also free wifi in the whole hotel. The only minor criticisms I have is that there wasn't always someone on reception because the owners obviously carry out most tasks themselves. Secondly, the road that our room looked out on, although not a big main road, seemed to get quite noisy early in the mornings and - as we had the windows open because of the hot weather - this tended to wake us up. However, these are very small criticisms, all in all we found the hotel lovely and would definitely return. The town of Bad Neuenahr itself is not the busiest of places but it's very beautiful in the summer and perfect as a base for bike riding and hiking. For dining, I strongly recommend the Greek restaurant Charisma on Hauptstrasse, the food was to die for and we ended up going back because it was so good - authentic and delicious Greek mezze reasonably priced, friendly staff (if a little slow). The spa (Ahr Therme) is also excellent but be warned, if you book any treatments, make them from 10am onwards - ours were at 9.30 but the place itself only opens at 9 and it takes a while to figure out where you're supposed to go as the treatments are in a different building to the saunas and pools.
