“Little gem!”
Reviewed December 4, 2013 for a stay in October 2013

Little gem in the middle of stunning scenery.

The owners have created a beautiful, and comfortable place to stay, everything you could wish for is here. The decor is beautifully put together, with the bonus of a fire, for cold evenings, and a lovely view. The layout has been well thought through, with every inch of space used, but there is still a sense of space. There are beautiful walks into the gorgeous village of Freshford, which has its own farmers market type shop, complete with its own cafe, run by the local community.
There is a lovely pub, a short drive away, or if you are feeling ambitious you could easily walk to it. The pub serves excellent food, and there is a cosy fireplace.
The scenery is beautiful, and there are lots of walks. You are however only a short drive away, from the stunning City of Bath, with the wonderful Bath spa, shops galore, and great restaurants.
I would highly recommend this lovely place to stay, Philip and Naomi have really created something very special, and I hope by recommending it so much, I am still able to get a stay!

“Outstanding hospitality in idyllic cottage”
Reviewed December 3, 2013 for a stay in December 2013

This cottage is a great fund and excellent value in a beautiful village in the countryside and within easy reach of Bath. Naomi and Phil provide a warm welcome and the cottage is impeccably clean and beautifully presented. This is a perfect jewel in the Bath area.

“Perfect country retreat!”
Reviewed November 27, 2013 for a stay in November 2013

Our stay in Abbotsleigh Cottage was wonderful. Situated in the village of Freshford, the cottage boasts the beautiful views and peace of the countryside, as well as being just a short train journey from Bath. Freshford station is only 10 minutes' walk away, and provides regular trains straight to Bath Spa.
The cottage itself was fantastic, we were welcomed with a plate of brownies and the log fire already burning! The kitchen is excellently equipped and the whole cottage is very tastefully decorated - lots of Farrow & Ball and The White Company. There is also a brand new television with Sky HD and DVD player. Even though there is only one bedroom, the sofa-bed was really comfortable and there was plenty of space.

All meals could easily be cooked in the kitchen, but Freshford also has some great country pubs. The Sunday roast at the Inn at Freshford, just 15 minutes' walk away, was a particular highlight!

We could not have asked for better hosts - Phil and Naomi were incredibly welcoming, and ensured that we were comfortable throughout our stay, even putting up fairy lights outside the cottage so that we would be able to find it in the dark. I would definitely recommend it for couples or a group of friends who are looking for a country retreat just a short distance from Bath. We are already thinking of dates to return.
