Let's start with the main point: This was a gourmet dining experience - the Michelin star quality that the chef Flavio brings is obvious. The meal was beautifully presented, with great richness sensibly offset by smaller portions. The pidgeon was very popular in our group of six, and much enjoyed. Accommodation is spacious and delightful, with wonderful views and a sense of openness. We stayed as a group for two nights and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. And to top it off, the tour and wine tasting are exceptionally well informed by Gaia.

Our family, travelling with another family of four stayed at Tenuta Caretta for two nights. The rooms were air conditioned and spacious, with comfortable beds and pillows. The sitting area included a sofa and chairs as well as a TV, though we didn't use it much. There were two balconies which overlooked a lovely valley and mountains in the distance.
We were in the region in early July, which is low season - it was HOT! I think we may have even been the only people staying there. The breakfast (included in our room) was delicious and consisted of pastries, meats, cheese, yogurt and fresh fruit. The staff were kind and helpful.
I hope we go back someday and highly recommend this to people who are in the area to enjoy the natural beauty and the products of the region: wine, peaches and truffles. And food. Oh, the food.

If you are looking to stay at a winery this place is a great option. The rooms are very large, clean and have a nice decor. All reasonably priced. It has easy parking and the restaurant right downstairs has great food with very attentive service. Don't leave without getting a winery tour, or at least sampling some of there fabulous wines at the wine shop.

My stay was very brief, but I couldn't stop thinking about the business possibilities for this wonderful facility. George Clooney was married in Venice during my time here, and he fought the crowds on his special day. Tenuta Carretta is a huge estate with a metal gate on the road, where your event would be truly private. There are ample grounds for a business event, such as industry new model product introductions that I have attended over the years for my work. A pretty part of the world, a large controlled space, some (six?) luxury hotel suites, dining for large groups, plus a covered terrace and indoor winery reception area for more than two hundred people in each space. What a place for a destination wedding in Italy! Restaurant owner Valter can coordinate everything.
