“Historical Bliss”
Reviewed February 12, 2017 for a stay in January 2017

Our vacation during the last 9 days of January 2017 was total bliss !!! My sister in law was tasked with the job of finding a dream apartment on the sea front in the Northern Beaches, and boy, did she deliver !!!! The Ocean Apartment building oozes so much character. Built in the late 1800s as a CoachHouse, housing workers from central Sydney each evening. During the early 1900s, it became a Coffee house and latterly evolved into apartments.Bought 30 years ago by an entrepreneur, Robert W ( a true gent ) has maintained the character of the building, resisting opportunities to build a new aparpartment block. Presently,I beleive there are around 9 apartments, some on long term tenancies, and some, lucky for us, short term holiday lets. Australians love historical buildings and this remains a beacon on South Narrabeen beach front.
We stayed in Apartment 4 on the ground floor. Our patio doors opened onto a neatly fenced garden and lawned area complete with 2 tables and several chairs. The view to the sea is quite breath taking, as one scanned the view beyond our private garden, over the newly re established, fenced, lawned area wearing a vivid green coat. This area is also complete with 2 sea view bench seats and picnic tables and chairs.
During the storms of June 2016, the whole exterior lawned area had been swept away by huge waves, all the way to the two trees which survived the onslaught, still standing so elegantly and defiantly. Indeed, it is these trees that provide a perfect shade to the sun throughout the day, should you wish to enjoy the vista, caressed by the sea breeze, and with the added bonus of being able to monitor your children on the beach/ in the sea whilst doing so. On ones return from the beach, there are excellent facilities to shower and wash feet, again, on the exterior private lawned area.

The apartment itself provided all one could wish for, and whilst it would not be described as 5 star, it is comfortable, clean and very homely. Just prior to our departure, our host was placing an order for air conditioning in the lounge, which was also complete with a TV/Foxtel, so all the comforts of home.
Facilities include Lounge, Kitchen, with good stocks of daily drinks, bathroom and 2 bedrooms, shower and washing machine. The bed in the master bedroom has patio doors opening to the sea vista, the bed being so huge it almost filled the room, but oh so comfortable !!!!!

What more can I say ?? Our vacation was pure bliss.

PS: Robert has invested heavily into re instating the sea defences to his property, indeed, they are the best of all properties along south Narrabeen !!!! This has enabled him to re create the exterior lawned area which really adds so much to the way one can enjoy this property. And for your interest, within the grounds, there proudly stands the drivers carriage of Sydneys old Skyrail !!!!!

Management Response
13 Feb 2017
Hi David
It was lovely to host your party at the CoachHouse on the Beach. I found our discussions very interesting and we are pleased that the hard work and effort that we put into this property is appreciated. I agree with you that the location is superb and as I discussed with you that rather than being an owner of such a privileged geographical position and historical building, I feel more like a custodian, trying to improve and share this wonderful asset with others.
Thank you for your great review and we hope to see you the next time you come to Oz to thaw out.
Kind Regards
