“Charming”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 September 2011

Charming historical hotel run by equally charming multilingual professional couple who delivered sublime service . The food was of the highest order which is extraordinarily difficult in an area of the world where restauranteurs excel. The private walled grounds host lawns, magnificent trees and a refreshing pool . This is an old building of great character and the clean rooms are similar but comfortable. The house guest list of apparent travel savvy and sophisticated couples probably reflects the normal clientele

We enjoyed staying in this hotel for two days. We have eaten here also two evenings.
Everything was perfectly organized.
The welcoming, the room, the service, the beautiful house and furniture, the garden, the pool. All perfect!
Breakfast buffet, more choice than you good wish for. Fresh fruit etc.
The evening meals were very nice cooked, served by people who enjoy there work and know what they were doing.
Beautiful dishes accompanied by delightful glasses or bottles of wine from the region. (also from the rest of France or the world. But we wanted to drink wine from the region and we were very suprised by the good Montbazilac and the Mirabelle (red wine) )
Take the lobster! And (don't blame me: the smooth foi grasse....) afterwards I had a plate filled with the cheese from the basket. MMMMMMMMM
Thanks to all and we will surely return.

This hotel, located in an historic old building, has character and so much more - the garden is a delight. Our room was spacious and the large bathroom well eqipped with modern facilities. Our hosts were professional, helpful and friendly. The evening meals were lovely and our host attentive to the needs of his customers. The friendly staff reinforced our view that this was a great place to stay.
The Dordogne area is a lovely part of France to visit with Lascaux 2 nearby to Montignac and many other scenic and historic sites to enjoy.
We would love to return some day.

This was the 5th hotel of our tandem cycle tour of the Dordogne. After cycling from Meyronne 39 miles we arrived at Hostellerie La Roseraie. We were expecting this hotel to be nicer than the Soleil d’Or (same town) that we had stayed the previous week due to it costing more and from reviews read. We found the room small, without mini bar or safe. The decor looked a little tiered. However, the swimming pool was good and set in a very nice garden.
£113 B&B for two people. Hotel Soleil d’Or for £95 was better value.

The service, restaurant with dinners outside and the area with a nice swimming pool is very good. Also the rooms are very satisfactory. This is definitely the best hotel in Montignac, much better than Relais de Soleil.

This is the second time we have stayed here. There has been some decoration since our last visit, which is good. Isabelle and Vincent Nourrisson know how to operate a good hotel and everything about it is superb. We are fussy, but we could not fault it and this was confirmed by the hotel being full and locals using the excellent restaurant facilities. I have no doubt that we shall return!

Great hotel in scenic Montignac - only a few kilometres from Lascaux 2 cave paintings (which are wonderful) and there are a couple of stone age "troglodyte" cliff homes within about 15km that are also worth seeing.
Hotel overlooks the town's river and also boasts beautiful garden. Rate included breakfast and we paid extra for excellent dinner in restaurant.
Owners were friendly, spoke excellent English and nothing was too much trouble.
It's a great place to stay in one of the most scenic parts of France, and very reasonably priced.
For Aussies, it's a worthwhile stopover if you've been visiting the Loire Valley and want to head south to the Bordeaux wine country. You can arrive in Montignac mid afternoon, visit both Lascaux 2 and the troglodyte site and it's just a two-hour drive to Bordeaux with a good motorway about 20km from Montignac.
PS: if you're visiting Lascaux, you have to buy tickets in Montignac - they don't sell them at the site. They're available from hotel reception at La Roseraie.
