Man oh Man this place was good for the soul. Down to earth and recharge those batteries. We have stayed at 5 star all inclusives and high end house rentals but this place was quaint, clean, friendly and refreshing. Just what the doctor ordered. I recommend it to anyone. Water is blue, clean, teaming with aquatic life and the sand is white. Beaches a mile long and we never saw more than 4 or 5 people. Tow thumbs up from this Canadian.

Room tip: Swimming with pigs! Stingrays, nurse sharks... beaches...boating.....

We love Hideaways! Resorts such as Hideaways are preferred by our family. We don't care for big name or all inclusive resorts and Hideaways has it all! I am constantly recommending your resort to everyone I talk with and hope they will make the trip down at some point!

Where to start? Beautiful beachfront and surrounding beaches. Nice clean and perfect temperature pool along with comfortable chairs with pads and umbrellas! The staff is super friendly and hard working and provide excellent service on the entire property. The accommodations are perfect - very comfortable, clean and quiet! The resort van into town is excellent and access to tour companies is great as well (we love the piggies)!

This past trip, Fran had a small cold upon arrival that wouldn't go away. We saw the Nurse at the Clinic on a Saturday and she treated Fran with antibiotics (severe ear infection in both ears). We were so grateful; otherwise the airplane rides home would have been very painful for her!

Wouldn't stay anywhere else on Great Exuma!

Room tip: The sweet cottages are the best!

Beautiful island and many fun things to do without having that touristy resort feeling. Hideaways is a clean and friendly boutique style getaway. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Splash is a great restaurant to have available all day (Incl breakfast). Cant wait to return!

Room tip: Snorkel around the small island reefs directly in front of the hotel and check-out Jolly Hall Beach within a 500' walk - a beautiful beach/water. No loud night-life and very few tourists

Hideaways was very quiet and peaceful compared to other vacations we have enjoyed. No saving of chairs by the pool, people scrambling around for food, drinks, etc. No loud parties, bands, etc. Enjoyed a very laid-back vacation. Almost every day we had the small pool to ourselves. We were originally assigned to the hillside which we were VERY thankful NOT to be there -- too far to walk to the pool, beach and restaurant. Mainly, we wanted a view of the ocean. The staff was incredibly helpful, gracious, and accommodating. We had a room looking over the small pool and ocean. We chatted occasionally with our 2 neighbors. The restaurant provides you with the necessary food with convenience. We enjoyed heading out to locally restaurants -- which are very small, rustic, and t-shirt friendly. We rented a scooter to get around. Very little traffic. Only 2 gas stations on the island. Not much developed on the island yet. We purchased groceries for breakfast and lunch. Groceries are typically high as they are in the Caribbean. The ocean and beaches are the big draw. Absolutely beautiful, clear blue and warm! We took kitesurfing lessons from Gary. He was great, and we learned a lot. However, we were unsuccessful actually doing it. Great place to learn this though with the steady wind and sand bars. We will continue our lessons in Michigan. We will also return to Exuma. We did very little of the typical tourist stuff (Stocking Island, feeding the pigs..)

Room tip: We stayed in room #26 overlooking the small pool and ocean. Very quiet. Wonderful. 2 other guests we saw all week in that area. Some kids were at the other pool (good), because we try and stay away from kids on vacation. We were glad NOT to be in the hillside rooms because of the walk away from everything and no hearing of the ocean and very little view of the ocean. They just looked hot.

The manager and staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms on the hillside, had little space to put your clothes and only a pedestal sink for your toiletries. The ocean view was only if your were standing on the balcony, actually the view was a dirt road and scrub bush and parked cars. In fact it was not nice to stay in the room, fortunately the beach was beautiful and kept me out of the room. It wouldn't take much to fix the rooms up a bi especially at the price they charge per night.

Room tip: Need to be prepared to spend over 200.00 a night
