Our check in time was 2.30 so we collected our key from the bar as reception was shut, makes no sense on a busy check in day. Went to our room to find it wasn't ready and we had to wait for half hour, totally unacceptable. Spoke to Chris that evening and at first he didn't apologise, tried to justify it by saying the hotel was full! Get more staff!! He also said the barman should have told us, no, reception should have been open. Finally he made an apology but it was too late. On the plus side the staff were friendly and the food was lovely. The hotel room was nice but didn't like having sheets.

Room tip: We were on the main road facing he Co-op so had to shut the window.

We were dismayed when we saw what was outside our window , when we mentioned it to a member of staff he replied lots of guests using that room had complained , not only unsightly but the switch gear hummed so no opening the window at night.
The toilet seat was loose which we reported on Tuesday but took till Friday to resolve the problem. The bacon at breakfast was char grilled and tasted awful due to the old food not being cleaned from the grill. We complained that it was not only charred with black stripes and tasted scorched but it was unhealthy. The next day the bacon had been cooked under a normal grill and was cooked well and tasted like bacon should .The people in the room next to us were only speaking normally but it sounded as if they were in the room with us because of the poor quality of the walls. There was not a member of staff on duty at night, just a mobile number by the phone for emergencies, and we could not get into the hotel lounge until 7.30am when staff arrived as the door was locked. One evening there was a power cut that hit a large part of the village, which was not the fault of the hotel, but no-one came to see us and explain or provide us with lamps. It was 4am when the lights went on and woke us up.

We are sorry you did not enjoy your stay with us. It is unfortunate that some of our rooms do not have the best of views due to the location of the leisure centre and I am very surprised that a member of staff would comment to you in such a way. I did explain and apologise profusely that we were not able to fix your toilet until the following day due to a staff shortage and that we were extremely busy on the day you brought it to our attention but we did fix it for you the following day. We have three chefs and two of them do chargrill the bacon mainly because they feel the lines make the bacon look more appealing. I can assure you now that ALL our kitchen equipment is cleaned after every service, our lady chef prefers to cook the bacon under a grill that is why it was different on one of the days. We do have a night watchman on site so the hotel is not unstaffed at night the reason we keep the lounge locked until 7.30am is because that is also the location of the bar which is when we are open again for service. it was an inconvenience that there was a power cut which was out of our control. Many of our customers came down to the bar where we helped where we could with torches. We also stayed up all night as it had disengaged the fire alarm system. We endeavour at all times to work hard to make our customers stay an enjoyable one. We are very sorry that you were not one of them.

Spent Two nights with a group of friends at the Old Hall Hotel, we were warmly welcomed by a lovely Lady whose name I've rudely forgotten, and were quickly checked in and told that the spa facilities were free to use for us, the rooms were spotlessly clean and had air conditioning and a comfortable super king bed, having freshened up and changed we went down to the bar for a drink where Chris and Moyà immediately asked if our rooms were okay and if we needed anything to just ask, the bar and restaurant area is lovely and both the evening meals and breakfasts were really good, all freshly made and delicious, the bar prices are very reasonable as is the wine list with something for everyone, all the staff including Chris and Moyà, the maids, the bar team, and restaurant team are really friendly, very happy to help and created an atmosphere that made our experience a very enjoyable one, all six of us agreed at the end of the weekend that a return visit is an absolute must.
PS try the steam room and jacuzzi in the indoor pool area it's lovely and relaxing.
Finally, a big thank you to all at The Old Hall, see you soon.

We booked this overnight stay because it offered so much in terms of dinner, breakfast and bed with full use of facilities. Great food and service and to get up Sunday morning for sauna, jacuzzi and a swim before breakfast was great. The hotel was clean and atmosphere was homely.
