'Moorings' is a small Bistro, so booking is generally recommended. This was our second visit, and we were not disappointed. The staff - especially the Scottish lady - are friendly, efficient and knowledgeable about their food and wine. The venue is lovely, tasteful and understated, very comfortable (with some outside tables under awnings) overlooking the lovely small harbour and bay. The menu is varied, but is particularly strong on seafood. All three of our party had different starters, mains (Lamb Tajine, Lemon Sole and Chicken Supreme) and desserts, all were excellent, and reasonably priced considering the high quality. We were recommended the 'Special' of the week, 'Passimento' from the Veneto, both the red and white were excellent, very velvety, very crisp! We will return!

Ate here this evening with a couple of friends, very lucky to book a table yesterday as it was really busy. I had the chicken supreme with cider sauce & veg; my friends had the lamb tagine and the pork fillet with mango. All 3 meals were delicious. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There was a 40 minute wait for food as the mains seem to be served in table order and we didn't have starters; however this wasn't a problem as we had drinks and were offered garlic bread whilst we waited. Looking forward to visiting again, would maybe ask for a window table next time as they have a lovely view.

This was supposed to be a romantic meal for two after a very stressful week we were recommended you guys
All was well with the starter a lovely seafood sharing platter
And my husbands main course of steak was superb
But I had ordered mussels a favourite of mine
It arrived with much expectation from me sadly I had a pot full of shells and the tiniest mussels floating in the bottom
Only a few though
I mentioned it to the young girl who said
“What do you want me to do about it “
Not a question I was expecting as I was hopefull she might have a suggestion
But she said “give it a minute see what’s in the bottom”
Then very loudly reported to the chef what I had told her
I felt embarrassed and another couple found it funny and giggled
Not nice really
I persevered and found nothing more than grit broken shells and mussels whiskers and gave up
The girl came back and said lots of other people had had Mussels and none of them had complained
I can’t be party to or comment on someone else’s food
I can only comment on what I was served
Thankfully some one with more sense
A lovely older lady came and apologised and the mussels were removed from the bill
Thank you to the nice lady who was much kinder and understanding
We had desert paid and left
The evening totally spoilt by rudeness and poor customer service
We are local to the area and appreciate local food and ameneties but it’s the first time I have ever been made to feel I was wrong in complaining about poor food
We would like to return as my husbands food was gorgeous
And we have had just drinks on the terrace before and love borth y gest
I don’t normally report on bad experiences
Just leave it
But a week on I still feel upset because as I
had said we had had a very stressful week and had treated ourselves to a night out
If these things are sorted out , I agree your a little hidden gem
Which is why I have given 3 stars not 1
That and my husbands delicious steak
I must point out I was offered an alternative but by the time it was resolved I had filled up on mussel broth and bread and my husband had finished his meal
Sorry guys

Thank Melon1

Had supper here in this wonderful place on the terrace overlooking the river in September!! Rugs are thoughtfully provided should you feel chill at all. The food here is fresh beautifully cooked and very tasty. Linguine with past and chilli whilst my wife had honey glazed goats cheese eclair. For mains we had the spicy lamb tagine with couscous and fish of the day, sea bass with Provençal mash with crab dressing. Just superb. Dog friendly on the terrace too. The staff are all warm and friendly and it's a place we would highly recommend . A fantastic supper.

This was our first ever visit to the bistro and I’m glad we did. It is a small bistro, so would recommend you book a table. The food was excellent with my wife having the lamb and myself having the chicken. The menu is small but still has a great choice. Service was great.
